A: I wouldn't recommend it it's on the larger side & might be ackward to fit into a backpack and no battery you need access to electricity to plug it in so just make sure you take all that into account

A: No, it is NOT metal. The reason I purchased it is that I read this answer and it is WRONG! Plus the part that screws onto the fan is defective.
The entire fan is cheap, thin, light plastic. Don't buy!

Nice fan if put together correctly
Once I got the fan put together, it is a nice inexpensive little fan. The attached video shows the highest speed. It’s not super strong, but nice for a bedroom tabletop. Ok, I read the instructions but I was having trouble. So, part E has a little notch like part H- make sure they align then you’ll be able to push it through so that H sticks out a bit once E is on. Then, when you attach part D and try to tighten, turn it COUNTERclockwise. Yes, the instructions say that, but my brain was telling me “righty tighty, lefty loosey”. I just thought it could help someone else.

Disappointed…. Have two other Holmes fans that we love…. This is no where near the same quality… cheap plastic parts and won’t stay in an upright position…. Wouldn’t recommend it

I bought it as a replacement fan for the last target fan I bought years ago to put my bedroom for both the breeze but more the ambient noise. The oscillating function on this is intermittently noisy when it reaches the end of oscillation It creaks and clicks it will randomly start and randomly stop. It varies in noise levels however it is noisy enough that when it starts in the middle of the night it wakes me up. The thing is when you stop the fan from oscillating using the button on the top of the noise still exists. Might be a good fan for the garage but I'd keep it out of your bedroom.

Great fan.
Holmes 12" Table Breeze Oscillating fan is a great little fan, great price for what it does. It was easy to assemble. My goal is to keep fresh air moving in my one bedroom apartment, into the bedroom window and out the living room window. This little fan definitely handles that. It operates very quietly on the highest setting, and consistently at the same speed. Much, much better than its competitors, at roughly the same price, and I know that because I bought and returned two of them. 10 stars out of 5.

Refreshing Air
The package appeared to have been opened previously but fortunately all the pieces were there. One of the inner caps that attached the blades was too small but since it was plastic I was able to make it larger. So difficult to out together but I eventually succeeded m.
