Review Quotes
PRAISE FOR HOLMES & MORIARTY
"The partnership between Holmes and Watson has been developed in so many different ways by countless writers. What Rubin has done so brilliantly is to flesh out a colorful partnership between Moriarty and his sidekick Moran, and then devised a plot which requires the two opposing partnerships to have to work together. Very clever and such fun to read." --The Conan Doyle Estate "[A] wonderfully entertaining, high-speed, high-stakes adventure . . . Holmes and Moriarty by Gareth Rubin is the real deal: an accomplished tribute, true to the spirit of Conan-Doyle, but with a thrillingly original story and enough accomplished inventiveness to captivate and satisfy. The perfect fix for Holmes fans--thoroughly recommended!" --Janice Hallett, bestselling author of The Appeal "Beautifully written and perfectly capturing the Holmesian spirit. And, yes, sometimes I side with Prof. Moriarty, and I don't care who knows it. Love an evil genius . . ." --Vaseem Khan, author of The Unexpected Inheritance of Inspector Chopra "Holmes and Moriarty is a rip-roaring thriller, fast-paced and twisty as the greatest detective and the greatest criminal become unlikely allies against the most formidable foes."--Martin Edwards, author of Silent Nights "Rubin brings Sherlock back to blazing life in this intriguing new mystery."--Crime Monthly "A mouth-wateringly ingenious premise."--The Telegraph "Rubin gives Holmes and Moriarty an authentic feel . . . weaving enough Conan Doyle in to feel right and infusing it with an originality. . . . Convincing, highly entertaining and smart."--CrimeTime FM "In its sparkle and ceaseless ingenuity, this story is almost worthy of Conan Doyle himself."--Daily Telegraph "If you loved Gareth's 2023 novel The Turnglass, then make this top of your TBR pile. . . . Such a pacy read, and one not just for Holmes fans but anyone who enjoys a race against time."--Belfast Telegraph "Aiming to slot seamlessly into Conan Doyle's existing canon rather than upend it, Rubin constructs a tightly plotted, slightly fantastical mystery that is so far up the street of traditional Holmes fans it's practically knocking down the front door of 221b."--Buzz Magazine
PRAISE FOR THE TURNGLASS
"Two interlinked novellas share a single binding in this knotty and stimulating tête-bêche book . . . [that] offers plenty of thrilling surprises."--Publishers Weekly "The Turnglass is a bold, breathtaking piece of writing that absolutely nails its two books-in-one conceit. I doubt I'll ever read anything like it again, which is the highest compliment I can offer."--Stuart Turton, bestselling author of The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle "Highly atmospheric and hectic searches for terrible truths. Rubin has pulled off the difficult trick of writing an ambitious novel that is also an easy, enjoyable read."--London Times [Crime Book of the Month] "An intricate and thoroughly mesmerizing tale of family plots and schemes across several generations."--The Guardian [Best Thriller of the Year]
