Traditional humanistic education has been under assault for many years. About the Author

EDWARD W. SAID was formerly University Professor in the Department of English and Comparative Literature at Columbia University. The author of many books, including Out of Place, Culture and Imperialism, and Orientalism, he died in September 2003.
