Q: How long can an unopened and uncooked package of Impossible Plant-Based Burger Ground be left unrefrigerated?

submitted by Holiday Hopeful - 3 years ago
  • A: Thanks for your question, Holiday! Our product should always be kept at a refrigerated temperature. When purchased thawed, your package of Impossible Burger should have a sticker with a “best by” date. For best freshness, you should prepare and eat the entirety of the package before this date. When frozen, Impossible Burger should be consumed within 10 days of thawing and always prior to the "use by" date printed on the packaging.

Q: does the amount shrink when cooked?

submitted by peggi - 4 years ago
  • A: You’ll be pleasantly surprised that Impossible shrinks less than conventional ground beef. If you’re used to making burgers, tacos, or spaghetti and needing to drain moisture or fat out of the pan, you’ll quickly notice that it's not necessary—the juiciness stays in until you take your first bite. This means that you should be able to use just one 12oz. (¾ pound) package in any recipe that calls for 16oz. (1lb) ground beef and get approximately the same yield you’re used to.

Q: Is this diabetic 2 friendly? Thanks for your help. Alice

submitted by Alice - 4 years ago
  • A: Hi Alice, a serving of the Impossible Burger contains 9g of carbohydrates, including 3g of dietary fiber and less than 1g of sugar. We always recommend that anyone with questions about whether the Impossible Burger is appropriate for them consult with a medical professional who can take their full personal health history into account.

Q: what are the other ingredients and what does "plant based" mean?

submitted by jack - 4 years ago
  • A: Hi Jack! Some of our key ingredients are soy protein, coconut and sunflower oils, and heme, the key to meaty flavor. Plant-based means no animal-derived ingredients. You can view our ingredient list in the Label Info section of the product listing.

Essential staple that must be in the freezer at all times! Does the job replacing beef or turkey in every ground meat recipe (esp if you add Worcestershire sauce) from burgers to shepherds pie. Never go anywhere ❤️

I've tried almost every brand out there and this is hands down the family favorite. It makes the best hamburgers that don't fall apart! It's also excellent in tacos, spaghetti, and hamburger helper style dinners. I can't recommend it enough!

I have purchased this product in the past from target with no issues this particular time when I open the package, the meat was discolored and there was such a foul odor coming from it that I had to throw it outside. You can smell it throughout the house probably won’t purchase this again.

I bought this to make sloppy joes! When I opened it the terrible smell hit me. I thought that once I added my seasonings it would be better but it got worse as I continued to cook. I then realized that something so foul smelling does not belong in me nor my family’s body. I threw it away and had to take it out immediately because the smell was so bad.

Absolutely disgusting. Smelled and had disgusting white stuff that looked like pieces of teeth in it. Called target to get a refund. They wanted me to bring it back. It’s already in my garbage.

Where are the plants? These burgers are made from processed soy and fats. No whole plant foods. Gives me hot flashes due to the processed soy product. Never again will I eat fake meat.

Good stuff. Cooks up like ground beef but um why does it always smell a little. Gross. It's not gone off or past date it always smells wack when raw. Smells good once cooked. I haven't cooked real beef in years but I remember that also smelling yucky raw. I like it in chili and tacos and for burgers

This Full Fat version replaces the 33% less fat version!

Careful shopper - 1 year ago, Verified purchaser
This particular Impossible product is the full fat version not the 33% less fat version that was sold before, so just beware. It’s a lot of saturated fat. I use the 33% less fat version regularly in chilli, pasta sauce, even meat loaf and burgers and rely upon it. But having the question about how long it is safe to eat, it doesn’t make sense that you have to eat before the use by date if it’s frozen, then eaten within a week of thawing.

I used this product in chili and it tasted great! I could not tell a difference between this chili and the chili I usually make with beef. It is my new year's resolution to no longer support the mass producing meat industry. Finding this alternative makes my transition much easier!
