Description

About the Book

Initiation is a process that leads man towards fulfillment by dying and being reborn into successive states of being until he transcends the limits of individuality. The initiatory tradition of the West (Egyptian, Eleusinian, and Mithraic mysteries, Pythagoreanism, the Essenes, Kabbalah, Christianity, and Islam) is a true treasure little known to many seekers. In this book, Germán Ancochea and María Toscano offer us invaluable material, taken from various Western initiatory traditions, to help us begin our spiritual quest, in an attempt to contribute to "kindling in our souls the desire to return" to our original homeland.

About the Author

Germán Ancochea, an economist by profession, excelled in his field, which led him to assume various management positions, including that of CEO of Telefónica. During his long professional career, Ancochea wrote numerous books on economics. The responsibility of these positions did not prevent him from simultaneously developing an intense and active career in the world of literature. Driven by a great passion and backed by a vast culture, he began by translating works related to hermeneutics, mysticism, philosophy, symbolism, etc., and later developed a career as a writer alongside his wife, María Toscano, with whom he co-authored many of his works. Ediciones Obelisco has had the pleasure of publishing several of his books: Iniciación a la iniciación (Introduction to Initiation), El simbolismo del número (The Symbolism of Numbers), ¿Qué decimos cuando decimos Dios? (What Do We Mean When We Say God?) and Mujeres en busca del Amado (Women in Search of the Beloved). María Toscano Liria has a degree in Philosophy. She has taught History of Philosophy and Anthropology at the UNED and was Professor of Philosophy at the Isabel la Católica Institute in Madrid. She has taught History of Philosophy in the Postgraduate Theology courses at the University of Comillas and Philosophy at the University of Comillas' University for Seniors.
