This study examines James Herriot's five major books as carefully crafted volumes of autobiography based on the building block of the short story. About the Author

MICHAEL J. ROSSI is Associate Professor of English at Merrimack College, where he has been chair of the English Department and Director of the Writing Center. He is the author of Exploring Literature: A Collaborative Approach (with Kathleen Shine Cain and Albert C. DeCiccio, 1993). He has published articles and presented conference papers on popular literature, business communication, and writing centers. He is currently teaching a seminar in autobiography.
