Q: Does this rug have variation in color, or is it all exactly the same color? (The photos show variation but it's hard to tell if that's the way the light hits the shag or actual differences.) Thanks!

Differences in computer monitors can cause rug colors to vary slightly and it is possible the colors may seem lighter or darker in images online or in person.     I bought this area rug with a pad. I was skeptical because of the reviews that said they could not get the wrinkles out. What has worked for me was to vacuum the rug. When you do that you can see the carpet stretch thus removing the wrinkles. I had to vacuum a few times to make it set. I just wish it was a little darker. However, I am happy with my purchase. This was the first encounter with Rugs com. I would buy from them again. I did some research about steam cleaning it to get the wrinkles out. Since it is 100% polyester it said you could do it. However if you have a pad underneath you could melt it I guess. My plan was to use a hand held steamer. I didn't have to do that. The vacuuming was enough. I give them 4 stars.

    BAD RUG

    Terrible rug! Can’t get it to lay flat on the edges. I’ve tried everything from leaving heavy books on it for days, to steaming and ironing. I’m throwing it out!

    Color perceptions vary..

    To be fair, color perceptions do vary. I was looking for a taupe that would be more on the tan side and that is what I thought the photo showed, but it seemed more gray to me in person. It is soft, but it is a very loose sheep wool shag, almost like little wool dreadlocks.

    NOT QUITE PERFECT

    This rug was carefully and quickly sent to me. It is a high-quality rug with subtle striation coloring/pattern and will work well placed over existing carpet or a wood/laminte floor. I needed to return it because the pomegranate red had purple overtones instead of clay overtones as I had hoped.
