Nice long tongs, bad locking mechanism
These tongs are very nice and they are a great size. The silicone tips work nicely, they prevent scratching your pots and pans. However, they should have a proper mechanism to lock them in place. The provided slide bar moves around too easily, which means that if your finger touches it while in use, it will accedentally move into the lock or semi lock position. It happened every time that I used them. And these tongs weren't cheap in comparison. I just ordered the fall back OXO ones, and I hope they work better.
Great tongs. Nice length keeps my hands from getting burned. Plastic tips keep my pans from getting scratched. The side lock took some getting used to as I’ve never had this kind of tong before but I like it. I did pinch my pinky a couple times trying to use them.
These tongs have met my expectations for a Kitchenaid product. They’re a nice weight and it’s easy to lock and unlock them with one hand. I like the silicone so I don’t have to worry about scratching nonstick pans. Overall, I’m happy with them and think they’ll last a long time.
My first impressions of these tongs were that they felt high quality because they're heavy, but the weight of them contributes to other issues, like them being awkward to maneuver at times and them tipping bowls if they're not particularly heavy themselves. While the locking mechanism looks sleek by being built into the handle itself, it's a sliding mechanism that slides downward to lock, which is a design flaw in my opinion, because while using these, it sometimes unintentionally slides downward. It also feels that over time (I've had these for a little over a month, probably and use them several times a week), the locking mechanism has loosened, thus making it easier for it to lock when I don't want it to lock. I love the nonstick tips on these and I've washed them in the dishwasher without any problems. They feel like they'll hold up for quite a while, but I just worry about the locking mechanism further loosening.
Nice tongs that are comfortable in my hand. They lock to make for easy storage, which is nice. They are easy to open and close, and the plastic on the end makes for a good grip. Also long enough to grab things out of the oven, but short enough to easily maneuver.
Easy to use and a great length for keeping hands away from the heat
These side locking tongs are the perfect length for cooking/ baking without having to get hands too close to the heat. The coated ends are great for preventing any scratches. The side lock is easy to use although sometimes it does slide to the middle (they still stay locked though). It does say they are dishwasher safe, I did follow the instructions, but they ended up slightly spotted. Handwashing might be a better option. Overall, they were convenient and easy to grip/ pick up and hold the food items.
We have always loved KitchenAid products and these side locking tongs do not disappoint. They are also a fun teal color which I love. As an avid home chef, these are a must have and a recommended item!
These are pretty handy. It’s nice to be able to lock/unlock one handed if you get it just right . The length is a bit long but better to have more than you need. The grip was good for grabbing and flipping strips and chunks of meat. They washed easily and protected my hands from heat effectively.
I had a chance to try these kitchen aid side locking tongs. They work well over and are a nice size. I just have to get used to the locking mechanism. It can be tricky to slide to open or unlock. I also pinched my finger on the lock before.
I love the way these tongs are made! The tip is very sturdy and I will be able to use them for french fries without crushing the fries to pieces because they are silicone. The side locking is the best, easy to use and you don't catch your finger on one like I have. I like the color too, it goes with any color you might have in your kitchen.
