Book Synopsis
Lady Parsons, a beautiful and gifted singer-songwriter, had a meteoric rise to fame. However, the applause and approval came with a price. In a Los Angeles recording studio, she tells her production team the story behind the "veil of emotion" concerning a particular song.
Lady shared her boyfriend's dream of opening a Bible-based home for disadvantaged children. She said she would marry Jesse one day, and he promised to build her a mansion. But Lady left her loving family and their cattle ranch in Texas-and her beloved Jesse-for a career as a musician. "I have this idea that I can make a difference and change lives by and through what gifts God has given me," she tells her momma. But Lady found that worldly success often demands compromise; she was lonely, empty, and losing her way. Just as she decided to put her life back in order, a heartbreaking incident changed her life and the lives of those around her. The past and the present come together as she journeys back home on a road that is far from what she had imagined. Lady's faith is gradually reaffirmed, and she discovers that God plans for her to serve Him-in the mansion Jesse had built for her. At her reunion concert, she tells the audience, "I believe that we live two lives while here on earth; the one we experience and learn with-and the second, what we do with that knowledge once it is acquired." Lady has accepted this knowledge and will pay forward in faith and love.
Review Quotes
Lady and Jesse Make a Promise exemplifies the extraordinary works of Larry B. Bachman. Each captivating page presents ideas that are beautifully expressed. This fictitious presentation depicts a real-life story of two individuals who are determined to fulfill a sincere promise that inspired the magnificent production of The Promise, a musical representation of that commitment.
Bachman captures the beauty of an almost-lost talent. His style of writing is refreshing; the imagery makes you feel as if you are planted in the very midst of the scenes. Keeping the attention of readers is an important aspect of writing, and Bachman does. The way in which the tone, words, and mood of each event fit together perfectly leaves very little room for boredom and showcases his skill as a writer.
Skillful authors are often sought after and sometimes hard to find, but there is no reason for you to look any further. Bachman has published several books that attest to his remarkable talent, but this piece in particular has impacted my life in a very special way; it reminds me of the fact that life is short, and time should be used wisely. Additionally, it entices you to examine and experience life's challenges by connecting you to the source of solutions rather than focusing on problems. I invite you to invest in a worthwhile production!
