Q: why does it make a distinctive loud humming noise

A: Hi, Thank you for reaching out to Lasko Products. My apologies for all the trouble because of this matter. No worries, I'll be more than happy to assist you. First, please power off and unplug the unit for approximately 15-minutes. Please also try plugging into a different plug in a different room after allowing the item to sit unplugged for the recommended 15-minutes. Here is a video that explains this a bit more in-depth: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hom3hOU-vHk While the unit is unplugged, using a vacuum with the brush attachment, please vacuum the intake and exhaust vents, from the outside of the unit. If you have a can of compressed air, that can be used as well in combination with the vacuum. Remember to never open the unit as this poses a safety concern and can void your warranty. Q: Is this fan totally battery operated, with no cord or is the remote just battery operated?

A: It has a 6ft. cord to plug into an outlet as well as the battery-operated remote control.

A: The blades are plastic. I went into the store and couldn't tell from the box. One of the employees opened the box.

A: There is a green light on the right of the console next to the numbers 4 3 2 1 Press the power button successively. The light at the number indicates the speed.

A: Have a man tighten it properly for you and it will stay up all night. Also: have him place a bit of plastic shopping bag over the lower half to give extra girth when screwing.

A: That's a great question, the oscillation from left to right is 90 degree however, tilting up and down we do not have a record. Tilt-back fan head and adjustable height is for customizing the fan's cooling airflow.

Fan does have a strong breeze and it is great to sleep with. I like that the blades are gray and almost disappeared when it is running. However, as other users have mentioned, the sound the fan makes when it is oscillating is like nails on a chalk board. No way to tolerably operate the fan in that mode. The fan "clicks" intensely loud when moving from speed setting to speed setting. It doesn't remember the settings you had it on when it is turned off. Overall, some positives, more negatives. Returning.

My autistic son really struggles to sleep. Between the white noise and the cooling breeze this has been a bedtime game changer. I do wish it lived up to all the features. The tilt holding in place was the first thing to stop working, then the adjustable height keeps sinking back down. The base is akward being large but light weight compared to the top heavy fan but it is wide to keep it upright if only the plastic clips under the base weren't so easily broken when moving it from one spot in the room to another. We never really used the remote

Instructions for assembly terrible. Very loud and even though it shows varying speed- it's really only high or off. And, high is so loud that you cant hold a conversation. Returning.

Awful. Disappointing as an American made product. The fan works fine. However, when selected in the side to side oscillating mode it has an annoying rubbing frictional creaking or squeaking noise. Don't bother. One other annoyance is that the height adjustment collar won't keep it in a position. There must be better for $45.00 or less out there. I e-mailed Lasko for assistance. We'll see about how responsive that they will be.

Replaced my old lasko which got noisy... This one is great I mostly ... But like my other lasko fans the pole keeps on sliding down no matter how tight it is and also not a fan of it starting at the highest speed which is 4 as I do seem to use 1 mostly lol! It would really be a 5 star if it would not have these minor flaws.

This fan is terrible. As an oscillating fan, it doesn’t do much to keep the room cool. The only way that I have found for it to keep me cool is to point it directly at me when I’m sitting in one place. The buttons on the remote are difficult to press. The base is very flimsy plastic.

Makes an INSANELY HIGH-PITCHED whistling noise that no amount of tightening or adjusting can fix. Cheap, flimsy plastic fan blades that are poorly balanced and poorly constructed. Piece of junk. DO NOT BUY.
