Fantastic for open ended play..
These Discovery Acorns are a really nice toy for open ended play. They are realistic in look, and are very tactical for children to hold and touch. Each acorn features a removable lid, which although fits well, is very easy for my 4 year old to pop off and on. Our first activity with them was to hide little bits inside for my son to discover and place around a woodland scene we had made. The thrill of popping off the lids and finding something different in each one was fantastic. Each acorn features a woodland animal on the base, Fox, Squirrel, Owl, Hare and Hedgehog which is a great addition for memory games. The box is nice and sturdy, and the acorns fit well inside the box without any wasted space, so is great to keep them in when not in use. This set also comes with a handy booklet that gives you some ideas on different things you can do with these. There are so many ways these can be used during play, hide and seek, role play, discovery pots.. the list is endless.. what's more, they are fully washable, which is great, so can even be used in water and messy play. I would thoroughly recommend these acorns as I feel they have so much learning and play value.
