We are enjoying this product as a family (and I intend on using it in the classroom was well). My only upset is that there is only one board and I cannot find anywhere to purchase extra boards.
Pieces too small and do not stay in the grid
2 out of 5 stars
Thumbs down graphic, would not recommend
Mare - 9 months ago, Verified purchaser
The square styrofoam pieces are so small and do not fit and stay in place on the grid. My grandson is very disappointed. I am a retired teacher and was excited until the product came. Very disappointing.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience with the STEM Explorers Pixel Art Challenge. At Learning Resources, we strive to provide high-quality educational toys, and we value your feedback. Yes, while the cubes are small, they measure 1cm x 1cm x 1cm in order to fit the 5½" x 5½ tray. The game includes 40+ STEM art challenges, so they are not meant to stick to the grid. We hopes this clears any misunderstanding regarding the intention of the product. If you are not yet satisfied or you have any other questions, please visit us on our Learning Resources site under the “contact us” page and we’ll be happy to help.

Idea is great but pixel will not stick and book pics are small to follow
1 reply from Learning Resources team - 9 months ago
Thank you for your feedback! We want to make your experience with the Pixel Art Challenge as best as possible so you love it just as much as we do. Please understand that the pixels are not intended to stick- that is why a variety of different puzzles are made possible. Thank you for letting us know your concern with the book pictures. We shared this with our product development team to explore further improvements.
Not a good precursor to coordinate graphing

Do not use this as an intro to coordinate graphing. The coordinates are set up backwards. It would be much better and more useful if the coordinates were given as number first, then letter which would better correspond with the (x,y) coordinates. Giving the letter first on this item encourages the eye to look for the y coordinate first.

Hello, thank you for your feedback! The Pixel Art Challenge was made with the intention to help kids build 2-D and 3-D artwork by solving math and coding problems. We hope this helps for a better experience, however we value your feedback regarding the corresponding coordinates. We shared this with our product development team to explore further improvements.
Box and description a little misleading

I purchased this expecting to get 3-4 grids in the box as shown on the box. I could not find in the description off Scholastic or on the box where it says you only get 1 grid. It is OK for one to two individuals to use. Very disappointed that I can also not find where to purchase more grids?

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a perfect STEAM activity for my art-loving (but not so STEAM loving) daughter. My daughter loves color-by-number coloring books so she instantly enjoyed the "match & build" and "color by number" activities. My daughter is 7 years old and we work on the "coordinates" and "coding" together. I love that this activity can grow with your child. I think the 5+ age recommendation is very accurate!
Great Set! My Child Keeps Playing With It.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My child loves playing video games like Minecraft and also likes building Lego. He is 6 but learning coding at school. This kit allows him to explore piece by piece building and instructional design.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My kiddos spent hours playing with the dots and trying to create the designs that are provided. They can even get creative and make their own designs too which makes it even more fun for all ages. The kiddos couldn't wait to play with it again each day.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The STEM Pixel will help on children's critical thinking skills & while it is entertaining for awhile. It becomes boring and children were uninterested. I would recommended for 3-5 age groups for purchasing. 7-8 year olds may not have much interest.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We enjoyed playing the Stem Explorers Pixel Challenge as a family. The set came with a project booklet that was fun to follow along. This was also a great creative play activity when we made up our own designs. My only complaint about the product was that the cubes were made of foam and didn't always fit into the tray nicely. Overall, this was a great STEM toy that was perfect for keeping minds active in the summer.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This really entertains my child and makes her use her brain. The difficulty levels go from simple to complex. STEM learning at it's finest! I will say I wish it was slightly bigger as the Tiny cubes are hard to handle. Maybe if they were made of a different material.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Stem explorers pixel art challenge was great for my six year old. She caught on very fast, the instructions are easy to follow and get a little challenging as you go. The only thing that is not great is the blocks are foam so they do not stay in place. They easily come out of squares as you are putting another block in. If the blocks were maybe plastic and stayed in place this game would be perfect.
