I really enjoyed this build. There are varied pieces which kept it interesting, but not overly difficult. The antennae, handle, and moving parts make it fun to display. Overall a really fun build.
Great build!

Easy to build. Instruction ok. Useless kit. If you want a real radio go elsewhere.

Oh no! Did you know you can mount a smartphone in the rear compartment to make the set come alive and feel even more like a real Retro Radio? Give it a try, and you never know, you could be tuning into even more fun than before!

Had to rebuild this a few times in certain areas. The sound never worked. Its a bit unstable in some places. The good thing is you can put your phone in the back and looks pretty terrific, like an actual radio.

I received this for my 38th birthday, having kids I decided to stay up late and get up early as I didn't want their "help". While drinking tea, having T.V. on in the background and building it took me about 7 hours but I was in no hurry. I had lots of fun investigating all the mechanisms as I was constructing it and I was so happy when it was finished. Contrary to other reviews it does not have a Bluetooth speaker, the speaker simply plays a few pre recorded sounds but it is very cool. I love it honestly.

I was apprehensive about buying this set. I am of the generation when transistor radios first came out. It was a big deal. This set has been a blast. It was easy an easy build and engineered to handle my cell phone beautifully. Yes, the little sound module works OK. But the big surprise is how much fun it it to play and listen to my song list from my cell phone!. It's easy to manipulate the operation of my phone through the flexible mount in the rear of the set. It sounds so well that I am actually listening to it while I am writing this review. It's a great set and a lot of fun. Get it and enjoy it!

The overall build is very fragile when complete. The sides have very few contact points and easily separate if you hold it while playing with the dial. Putting a phone in really causes small part to fall off. The sound brick is fun, but when you have it "on" the dial pushing it requires effort eliminating the soft feel of "tuning". I've check the instruction and my build but see no errors.
Tuner Function

I am a fairly new builder and hobbyist of LEGO (had them as a kid growing up). The work instructions were good but at times not clear too me. Personally when it came to the turner and on off knobs steps that's when the sound brick should have been placed in the model. I understand saving it for the last step for the reveal. However there is a problem to that. When i did the steps for the knobs and the little function the knobs worked great. Cut to the end when turning the turner after the placing the sound block in and nothing was happening.I couldn't see if the function was working why? Everything was closed up! Removing the back paneled did nothing. I had to break apart the sides to get the pins out to look at the function (II rebuilt it and before closing it all up again put the sound brick in and it worked. That's when i noticed that the function and the tuner knob was a hard turn. I thought i did something wrong again but after watching other reviews and reading comments from other sites about this build that that the tuner function and turn is supposed to feel like that (almost forcing the 3 balls to turn to push the pc into the sound brck and people all had problems with the function not working) My opinion the complete function should be done together with the sound brick while the front was still open so you can see !) it works of course 2)your not taking a lot of pcs off to get to it. Once the 4 pins are in for the speaker/grill pc you couldn't see anything. I think the pcs/steps for the putting your phone in there was not needed as this is something that did not draw me into this pc.
Very fun build, and it's functional

What a great surprise. I've been eyeing this set for a while but kept grabbing others. Finally decided today is the day. Couldn't be any happier with this one. Original plan was to do a couple bags then pick it back up the next day but I couldn't stop. No repetitive steps!! I love the gears and the dial that actually works. The sound brick is cool but as others have mentioned, adding a bluetooth speaker takes this radio to the next level.

Really enjoyed the build on this radio and after a few small tweaks the radio sounds worked like a charm. I agree with others that at times the pieces feel like they are bending a bit as you build but at the end of the day it holds together. This is not a set you want to slam around or abuse much. Adding your phone into the back of the radio works well and the radio pre programmed sounds are loud and clear enough. I would recommend this for kids or adults who have a little experience building Lego as the middle of the build can get a tiny technical but nothing a seasoned builder couldnโt handle. It looks fine on my shelf and while I might not play with it as much as I first thought I am glad to have made the purchase.
Infuriating, yet pleasing build.

This has to have been the most infuriating build I've ever done. ๐ง๐ต๐ฒ ๐ถ๐ป๐๐๐ฟ๐๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐ฏ๐ผ๐ผ๐ธ ๐๐ต๐ฎ๐ ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐บ๐ฒ ๐๐ถ๐๐ต ๐ถ๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ ๐ฎ ๐๐๐ฟ๐๐ด๐ด๐น๐ฒ ๐๐ผ ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฑ - seriously, so many grey pieces of varying shades on a grey background? Not helpful! Couldn't find my tablet to use the builder app, so was stuck with it. Also a few errors. Like the antenna needing 8 pieces when there were only 7, and the 8th piece would have only made the antenna too long anyway. ๐ฆ๐ผ ๐บ๐ฎ๐ป๐ ๐บ๐ถ๐๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ฝ๐ถ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ฒ๐! Luckily I have a large jar full of spare small pieces from previous builds, and the missing ones were mostly internal so colour didn't matter. If not for the jar I wouldn't have got past bag 1 without having to order pieces, and again at bag 3, then bag 4... you get the idea. I love it! As a fan of what tech I grew up with (now called "retrotech") it's bordering on perfect. I love that it can be used as a speaker box for my phone. I do feel a mod is in order to make it a functional Bluetooth speaker. That would really take it to the next level. So, Lego. I've got the turntable. I've got the Walkman (itself was a fun little build). I've got the Polaroid camera. I've got the 3-in-1 camera coming for my birthday, and I've got this... ๐ช๐ต๐ฎ๐'๐ ๐ป๐ฒ๐

I have run into the, from what I have seen from other builders, common issue of my sound not working. I am going to go back and hope I donโt have too much of a rebuild to do to fix it
