LEGO Icons Lord of the Rings Barad-dur Building Set 10333

Very interesting to build despite the predominance of black pieces. I also bought a light kit for this set and it is very worth it!

This set was a fantastic build experience. Of course, I enjoy Lego Architecture, so many small similar-colored pieces are great for me. This things is an absolute monster, both in size and appearance. I had no idea just how big and detailed it is. The thought and design that went into this is mind-blowing. I am building the entire LOTR collection and so far have this, Rivendell, and The Shire. I hope for other sets of other LOTR locations.

I've been build lego sets for around 15 years now, and I this was one of my favorite builds of all time. The repeated features didn't feel repetitive while building it, and the ability to separate the tower into segments is amazing for both viewablity/playing, and for transporting it without risk of dropping the while thing. I highly recommend this set if you're a fan of LotR.

Overall good build and nice looking however, with hundreds of studs left exposed on exterior surface it has an unfinished look to me. So I added teeth plates to top of the walls, smooth 1x4 and torches to the faces of the walls and smoothed out the bridge. Looks much better and more menacing. Also added LED light strip under the build on a simple custom cut base to light the lava. Turned out epic.

A great build, definitely worth it in the end. The largest build I have done yet. Allot of great details on the outside and inside of the tower. It was a little difficult but not because of the size but almost Everything was black

As incredible as this set is, and it really is stunning, the one I received had lots of incorrectly coloured pieces. As such, I not only can't continue until I receive the correct pieces from Lego, which can take up to two weeks, but now I'm nervous about continuing because, after finding so many incorrectly coloured pieces, I'm worried I'm going to hit a road block and find more. I guess Lego have downsized their QA team, which is having a very noticeable impact on newer sets. Hopefully this is just a one-off, as if I buy another large, expensive set like this and experience similar QA issues I'm going to be reluctant to buy more. Additionally, going to post my review, I've noticed the ratings I selected, particularly the 'Build Experience' one keeps increasing from 2-stars to 4 before I submit the review. Really bad form, Lego.

This is really a great set. It looks spectacular on display, the interior has lots of cool rooms and easter eggs, and the mini-figure line-up is very impressive, especially Sauron. It's a solid value too, with 5400+ pieces being a good rate for the price. My only quibbles are small: I would've added a Nazgul and maybe one more orc to the mini figures and some of the spikes on the outside of the tower can come off a bit easily. Still, these are minor points and I would definitely recommend this set.

Totally incredible build - would highly recommend!

Been wanting this set for a while and it does not disappoint. The tower is tall and a good center piece for my shelf. Amazing exclusive minifigures

Tiny bit repetitive while building but definitely worth it

This set, just is absolutely beautiful, I think that the minifigures in this set are perfect, and I hope to earn enough before X-mas to buy this set! As of right now, I don't own this set yet, but just like every other lotr set, I want it!

I bought this set instead of the avengers tower. I’m more of a marvel fan I’ve never even seen lotr but I saw the box and thought it looked cool but I was not ready for the finished product. It is absolutely towering. It looks amazing and the value for the price is very good compared to other sets. The box does not do it justice. Buy this set you will not regret it

This set is a perfect addition to the Lego collection for Lord Of The Rings. It brings to life an impressive structure from one of my favorite fantasy worlds. Lets start the review with the sets physical appearance. Physical Appearance- It manages to be tall, impressive, dark and intimidating all at the same time. The flowing lava and molten rock add a great contrast to the base of the tower with its gloss black walls. The designers have managed to create a tower that looks like it was removed from the rock and plopped right on your display. The silhouette is amazing. No matter what the lighting is, you can immediately identify it. The interior manages to tell the story with details throughout the few rooms all while adding small bits of humor. The only negative I can think of (it is very minor) is how the light looks when shining on the eye. This is easily modified by adjusting the angle or utilizing a different lighting source. Build experience- This build utilizes many intriguing methods especially for the walls. It contains many awesome mechanical features like the opening gate. It can be slightly repetitive at times but well worth it in the end. The set is divided into three sections which allow for a natural stopping point to maximize your building experience. This method is fantastic for families and groups of people who want to make it a group project. Just split the bags and match them with the correct instruction booklet, divide and conquer. The build time is perfect for sitting back and reliving the world of Lord of the Rings in the movies. I was exceedingly content with this build. It shows the extreme expertise of your designers. The tidbits sprinkled throught the books are always fun to read and enhance the process. Price- The fact that lego sets of this caliber are expensive is no small secret. However, I believe this price to be fair for such a fantastic looking set.

Great build overall, however few areas of the build could have done with a little more refinement. Light brick is a wonderful touch, but could have been positioned better to fully illuminate the eye. Extra info/background in the instructions is a nice idea but please Lego, get your lore right - for the effort that went into the design, it feels like you took shortcuts here as some of it is plain wrong! Does look amazing in the office next to the Corsair Ship though

10/10! The build did take me 23 hours to complete but it was a lot of fun! No missing pieces, easy to follow instructions, and great quality!

Every figure but gollum is spot on, the build is incredible. Took Lego long enough to get an eye of Sauron. Highly recommend. Great set! Every decal is perfect except Gollum’s. Sam and Frodo were a great addition, and the interior is awesome.

Lego Sauron is the best lego set wins hands down! Who needs that Lego Metal Beards sea cow now?!

Purchased this along with Rivendell. As much as they are different experiences, they are both marvellous. I would go so far as to say they both end up being in my top 3 sets of all time.
