Book Synopsis

The #1 New York Times best-selling Little Blue Truck finds his way out of a jam on a trip to the city.

Zooom! Wooeeee . . . ! Screeeech! The big city sure is a speedy, noisy place for a country truck like Little Blue. Everywhere Blue looks, he sees buses, police cars, taxis, vans, a street sweeper, and even the mayor's limousine. With everyone pushing to be first, soon there's a giant traffic jam! But even a wrangle-tangle is no match for Little Blue Truck, who comes to the rescue in true Blue style. Brimming with bright colors, vehicle sounds, and city energy, this adventure makes working together and taking turns more fun than ever. Now with free downloadable audio and a party kit! Also enjoy Blue's bedtime ride in Good Night, Little Blue Truck.

Review Quotes

. . . big, swooshing street sweeper; the taxi with screeching brakes; the busy police car; the frowning bus. The angry traffic standoffs and the small truck's triumph will be welcome fuel for many preschoolers' imaginative play.--Booklist It's in the fusion of the old-fashioned with the modern-eclectic--one man in the crowd listens to an iPod--that the book's artistry shines.--Publisher's Weekly

My Toddler Loves It

My toddler picks this one more than the original to read. I think he enjoys that we do different voices for all of the different vehicles.

Skip this one..

Not at all our favorite of this series unfortunately. Very negative and was even a little frightening (the angry faces) for my little one. Also, it doesn’t make much sense as far as a story. (for Little Blue Truck Leads the Way)

Okay but not our favorite 'Blue Truck' book

We love "Little Blue Truck" books but this one didn't hit the mark. It was mostly rude comments from other vehicles but with an okay ending. I gave it away.

As good as the original

We love the original Little Blue Truck story, so we bought another three--Springtime, Halloween, and Leads the Way. This one is by far the best of the sequels we've read. The other two are Lift The Flap books and don't have much of a story. But this one is just as good as the original. Highly recommended.

Great for Little Blue Truck fans!

We had EVERY Little Blue Truck book except this one. While it isn’t my personal favorite of the books (nothing beats the original IMO) my daughter loves it and wanted it to complete her collection. Target had it for a phenomenal price, so we grabbed it!

Favorite Book

This book seems to have become my son's favorite, along with all of the rest of the Little Blue Truck series. He definitely asks to read this one the most. He's loved Little Blue Truck since he was very young and I don't foresee this not lasting well into his toddlerhood. He brought it in for his preschool to read and they all loved it too.

Maybe if you are a teacher this would be good.

The book itself seems to be put together well. It has lasted through multiple readings with an 18 month old no problem. My issue with the book comes from the story. The original blue truck book had a flow that this one doesn't. Maybe the point of this book "one at a time in a line" would be more appropriate for a preschool or kindergarten classroom than a toddler at home. The rhymes are stretched in parts, and some of them are almost painful to read. My book loving son picks this book maybe twice a week. (we read 20+ books a day) That leads me to think it's not really as enjoyable to him either.
