About the Book

John Dunbar, known as "the Basilisk," wants to turn his back on his brutal and wandering past and finally live in peace with his family. He settles with Lucretia and her daughter, Felicity, in the inhospitable Valley of Rocks, in the heart of Navajo territory. However, he will be pursued there by the most terrifying enemies he has ever met, enemies who do not seem to come from his own world. Meanwhile, Jon, the writer who created the adventures of the Basilisk, returns to his hometown. He intends to rehabilitate the old family house and settle there. Meanwhile, in the far west, Dunbar takes in the son of an old enemy and doubts Lucretia's love, difficulties for which his experience as a gunfighter has not prepared him, Jon runs into a rival who was about to ruin his life and who seems willing to try again. Thus, the lives of the character and his author come close to the point of almost merging.

About the Author

Es autor de los libros de cuentos Como una historia de terror (2008; Premio Ojo Crítico de Narrativa), Bajo el influjo del cometa (2010; Premio Tigre Juan y Premio Euskadi de Literatura) y Física familiar (2014); así como de las novelas El hermano de las moscas (2008), Padres, hijos y primates (2011; Premio Otras Voces, Otros Ámbitos) y Shakespeare y la ballena blanca (2013). Cuentos suyos aparecen recogidos en antologías como Siglo XXI. Los nuevos nombres del cuento español actual (2010), Pequeñas resistencias V (2010) y Cuento español actual (1992-2012) (2014). En Impedimenta ha publicado su volumen de relatos Estrómboli (2016), su tríptico El silencio y los crujidos (2018), el western Basilisco (2020), galardonado con el Premio Euskadi de Plata y el Premio de las Librerías de Navarra, la nouvelle, Los extraños (2021), y Araña (2023), en la que continúa con la historia de algunos de los personajes de Basilisco. Actualmente reside en Bilbao, donde trabaja como traductor.
