I bought this recently and very disappointed. My grand daughter and I live to play board games but instructions are not very clear. Tried to use on video tutorial but it never did get it to com up. Very, very disappointed.

My 11 year old got it for Christmas, the quality of the pieces is impressive. The heroes are very well made and the game gets easier to play every time. You must read the instructions, do not resort to video reviews because they are long and not fun. Once you play you realize the kids imagination and excitement to discover what the magic 8 ball will say is constant. We're enjoying this fantasy game as a family.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] MY 8 year old very much liked this. Her favorite part of course was the magic eight ball and she played with that outside of playing the game more than anything. But the game itself was very cute as well. She was able to understand it easily enough and we had fun as a whole family.
Confusing game

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The board game is beautifully made. All the pieces are very sturdy and it is beautiful to look at. Unfortunately, it was a difficult game to play with my 7 year old. Maybe when he gets older he might be more interested in it but the instructions were even confusing to us. The board also folds in a way that makes it difficult for it to lay flat. I wouldn’t recommend this game for a 7 year old.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This game looks like so much fun! The 8-ball is smaller than the original with a pretty design. The kids are looking forward to playing this together. Family game nights are becoming very special to us so can’t wait to try this one!
Horrible, horrible, horrible.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This game is way, way too complicated for kids to figure out how to play. The instructions are borderline unintelligible. The game pieces are too lightweight for the purpose they’re supposed to serve. We tried to no avail to figure out how to play this thing and gave up. We are keeping the Magic 8 Ball and tossing the rest. Huge disappointment.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Magic 8 Ball game was a fun great game to play with the family. It took a little time to get used to the format and instructions but we played the beginner mode first to help get used to it. My daughter loved using the Magic 8 ball the most!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wasn't too sure if my son would like this game. Once he started playing it he liked it. The eight ball makes ot a lot more fun since it has its own answers. Its a fun game and different from orher games oit there.
Fun with the 8-ball, but make sure you have time!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The nostaliga of the magic 8 ball combined with magic and dragons...what's not to love?! The concept of the game is great and appealed to my 7 year old. Help collect the gems and avoid the dragon. The use of the 8 ball was an added bonus as you choose different ways to solve problems along the way. The reason for 3 stars is the game is SUPER confusing. Even playing the "easy" version, I could not play without the directions in my lap the entire time. The game also was really long, which made it hard to keep my daughter's attention towards the end.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Thanks to Mattel’s Play, Rate and Review program we received this game, Magic 8 Ball Magical Encounters Game, to play for an honest review. It’s a lot of fun and the best feature is the magic eight ball. Of course everyone who plays wants to ask it questions more than anything, but it’s fun to try to keep the dragon away. The game itself is well made and the characters are fun. We’ve played it for hours and it’s always a great time.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was a great game! It really simplified the game play of dungons and dragons. It is an awesome introduction to role playing games. You direct your own game play where you make your own narative. It's helpful to have the directive choice versus open ended questions. We had a lot fun collecting the crystals.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This game is super cute. We played as a family. I will say it is a little confusing at first but once you get playing it gets easier. It is a little slow moving until you start getting encounter cards. One thing i would reccommend is making the noard a little bigger or the cute pieces a little smaller. Right now the pieces are a bit oversized and dont really fit on the spaces. Also the eight ball in the middle makes it so you cant see much else thats going on. I would even reccommend making more ways to get treasure chests becasue we only got two the whole time with 4 people playing. Otherwise i think this game is super cute and fun to play.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It was an interesting game. It was confusing to understand when reading the directions. They didn’t go into enough detail but it wasn’t bad once you got going. My kids and I enjoyed playing it and may give it another try.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] What a great game for kids. We don’t have anything like this one. My kids love the magic eight ball with the dragon and knights theme. Keeps them entertained till someone wins. A great addition for kids on game night that changes things up a bit!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This game was a bit more complicated than it looked from the box. There are a lot of different elements that I would say would make it challenging to understand for younger children. We were eventually able to figure out a way to play. The Magic 8 ball was by far the best part of the game, for our daughter.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Magical Encounters is such a fun family board game. To play the game, you work together as a team to beat the dragon. This is a fun twist for families to play together instead of against each other. The characters used to play the game are super cute and my kids just loved them. Of course, they also love the 8 ball. It’s fun during the game and just on its own. One last great feature of this game is that it has different options on how to play. You can make the game a little easier if necessary. Overall, my family had a great time playing and would definitely recommend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This game is simply excellent. I cannot say enough good things about it. The box, the game board, and the cards are all gorgeous. The game pieces are substantial - they are a rubbery material with some weight to them and stand up well - not cheap flimsy plastic like one typically finds in a children's game. The first time around the game is a bit confusing, because there are a number of steps that one has to take for each turn. After that, though, it's pretty smooth sailing. I am just so impressed that this game is fun, imaginative, and a mix of both strategy and luck. It was engaging for my five year old AND my ten year old - a rarity! And the game is a cooperative game rather than a competitive one, almost like an introduction to an RPG like D&D. The integration of the Magic 8 ball is very clever. An absolute win, especially for a gaming family like ours.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My kids are 6 and 9 and are really in to the magic eight ball so when I saw this game come up I knew that they would love it. It does a great job of entertaining the kids with the game while also incorporating the magic eight ball so a win win in my book!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Fun game! Different from the normal board games that we usually play. This is very engaging for my 7 year old boy. My 5 year old girl is catching on and she plays with us with some help. Overall this is a great, family-friendly game for game nights!
