Mean - by Christina Wyman (Paperback)

Book Synopsis

From the USA Today-bestselling author of Jawbreaker, Slouch, and Breakout, this stand-alone middle-grade novel features the same fresh humor and relatable themes of friendship and family in a riveting story about what happens when a mean girl takes a prank too far.

Ronnie Frizzle has a reputation that precedes her. She's cunning, popular, and known for being, well, mean. And her snappy comments always amuse her eighth-grade classmates, even if they get her in trouble with teachers.

But it wasn't always this way. Ronnie has never been able to make friends easily, unlike her magnetic and talented older sister, Jules, who their mom always seems to prioritize. Without her sister's natural charm, Ronnie knows that it's better to make people laugh than to be the one they're laughing at.

When a new girl unexpectedly joins her close-knit friend group, Ronnie's Queen Bee status is put to the test. To secure her rank, Ronnie has to decide whether to make some more room in the hive, or double down.

In her finest work yet, bestselling author Christina Wyman gives us a window into the mind of a mean girl, capturing universal middle school experiences with her trademark humor, honesty, and heart.
