About the Author

MARCUS AURELIUS ANTONIMUS was Roman emperor from 161 to 180. He was the last emperor during the Pax Romana, an era of stability within Rome. Marcus wrote Meditations, a series of reflections for his own guidance and growth, between 170-180 while on campaign. His writings reflect the stoic philosophy of the time and have become a classic of Stoic thought.
