Sixteen double-sided wooden puzzle pieces feature emotions, facial expressions, and color blocks to match with corresponding scenes that illustrate the emotions, such as surprised, happy, and scared. Flip the pieces to match numbers to the correct number of candles and flowers – a fun way to practice Ms. Rachel’s calming technique, “smell the flowers, blow out the candles.” A mirror card lets kids practice their own expressions, and a bonus learning card includes play ideas and skill tips for caregivers! Self-correcting pieces and color-coded borders make these great first puzzles for littles two and older. Pieces store in a sturdy wooden box for easy cleanup.

Absolutely love the toy for what it is. My daughter has managed to learn which emotions are which- BUT- I’m not sure if our product was cut wrong during the laser portion of manufacturing or what but some how the plastic portion started tearing off and my daughter had it in her mouth trying to eat the peeling portion by the end of the day

This was perfect other than the fact that it was printed and cut incorrectly on mine, causing one of my pieces to completely rip when I tried unsticking them for my daughter. Other than that it was a great purchase !

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a good project for small kids just learning. My nephew is almost 3 years old and doesn’t talk yet and I think this will help him learn how to display different emotions while also learning how to count and do numbers. It’s made with solid wood so the durability is good. It has a slide to open case to store all the puzzle pieces. It also comes with a mirror so your child can look at themselves and learn their own expressions. We love playing with it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We really enjoy the Melissa & Doug Ms. Rachel Big Feelings Wooden Matching Puzzles! The illustrations are bright, engaging, and do a great job introducing beginner emotions in a simple, relatable way. It's a fun, thoughtful tool for helping young kids recognize and talk about their feelings. The only small issue is that the puzzle pieces don’t fit together as snugly as expected, but it doesn’t take away from the overall learning experience. Still a great buy and a wonderful addition to our playroom!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The matching puzzle is great, especially if your kid likes Miss Rachel. It’s pretty thick wood and it comes with a storage container which is handy. I will say there is one puzzle piece that does not really stay together which is a little disappointing because the rest of them are really nice. My 2 1/2 year old son has started pointing to the emotion pieces and telling us how he feels, which is a nice bonus.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Both my 6-year-old and 3-year-old absolutely love putting these puzzle pieces together. My oldest even helps my youngest count the numbers, read the words on the blocks, and learn all the different shapes. It’s been a wonderful way for them to play together while also building early skills. I really appreciate how easy these pieces are to wipe clean, and cleanup is a breeze since everything fits neatly back into the sturdy wooden box it came with. This has made it simple to keep all the pieces together and store them without clutter. Overall, I’d definitely recommend this set to friends and family. It’s a fun, engaging, and educational toy that supports both communication and social-emotional skills — plus, it’s very well-made and thoughtfully designed.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently bought and used the Melissa & Doug Big Feelings Wooden Matching Puzzle with my 4-year-old, and it’s been a hit! The durable wooden pieces are child-friendly and easy for little hands to maneuver. Each round tile features expressive faces—happy, sad, surprised, and more—while the square tiles depict relatable scenarios like a birthday cake or rainy weather. My child loves matching the emotions to the situations and then talking about what each feeling means. It’s not only fun but also sparks meaningful conversations about emotions and empathy. Plus, the chunky pieces are great for improving fine motor skills. The puzzle storage board keeps everything tidy, making cleanup easy. Overall, it’s a thoughtfully designed toy that blends learning, emotional development, and play—highly recommend for preschoolers exploring feelings!

It is colorful with vibrant hues on both sides. It is also slick and would be easy to wipe off to clean. Great toy.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This puzzle, like everything else Melissa and Doug, is a good quality toy. As a parent, I am grateful for minimal pieces. But this is a really cute concept and I think that it would be beneficial to have emotionally aware educational toys like this moving forward. Kids can point to which face they feel and it’s super helpful in teaching your children how to name an emotion. My two-year-old loves it. I have a six-year-old and this is a little too elementary for him but that’s OK! This toy is geared towards toddlers and I think it’s a great option for helping with those motor skills, as well as emotional awareness skills.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Melissa & Doug big feelings wooden marching puzzle is so much fun! It comes in a really nice sturdy box to store in while not using which is the best part about it. It’s Miss Rachel which my toddler absolutely adores so he loves it even more. It has puzzle pieces that go together and come apart and have numbers, the spelled number, and photos of the correlating number on them. It gives my toddler something to help him count and also put things together.
