Our grandchildren love to play in the sand. They were very excited to receive this new toy from us. When we went to the park to try it I knew it would work best with dry sand so that is how I directed them. But the flowed through so slowly it didn't really do much of anything. The kids got frustrated and the toy got about 2 mintues of play time. We have bought several Melissa and Doug toys and usually they are a hit. This one was such a failure, I decided I should warn others not to waste their money.

We bought this for our sons new sandbox since its described as a water/sand toy but it doesn’t sift sand AT ALL. Not even the smallest amount which I thought was weird. If you’re planning to get this for sand only, I’d skip it.

bought this for my 3 year old grandson for his new sandbox. Although colorful & sturdy, carry handle nice, sand does not move through the narrow opening at top so it doesn't get used. A great disappointment. As a water wheel it would be fine, but does not work for sand.

It got all jammed up with sand and doesn’t spin. It doesn’t work like it supposed to. Disappointed!

So we purchased this item (along with the pail/shovel/seaside sidekicks characters by Melissa & Doug) in anticipation for the arrival of our 15-month-old grandson's sandbox (purchased by his parents.) Who knew that these items would be such a huge hit - even before the sandbox has even arrived! He carries his shovel everywhere - and puts every item imaginable in the top funnel! We cannot wait for sand :) this was a HUGE hit!

This sand/water toy looks cute and is fairly sturdy, but is poorly designed. It simply doesnt work, the wheels etc. wont turn with water.

Not worth $13.99. The hole at the bottom of the green part is so small the sand can’t get through. Doesn’t get past the orange part either so the spinning parts don’t spin. Works a little bit better with water.
