Book Synopsis

Elsa is used to hiding the most important parts of herself--her feelings for Rye, her distaste for a world ruled by men, and, most crucially, her gift of songlight. She buries that secret deep inside. In Brightland, those with songlight are called Unhumans and are abhorred. Rye is the only other person Elsa has known with songlight, and their shared bond has brought them together. Elsa's world begins to fall apart one desperate, heart-wrenching day and she doesn't know where to turn until a girl appears before her.

Me llamo Moira Buffini y soy dramaturga, guionista, showrunner y, más recientemente, novelista. Mi primera novela se llama Songlight y está publicada por Faber. Nací en Inglaterra de padres irlandeses y escribí mi primera obra a los catorce años. Desde entonces he escrito muchas obras, cuatro de ellas para el Teatro Nacional del Reino Unido. También he escrito obras para el Almeida y el Kiln, y dos de mis obras, Dinner y Handbagged, se han trasladado al West End de Londres. Como guionista, he escrito cuatro largometrajes (Jane Eyre, Tamara Drewe, Byzantium y The Dig). También cocreé y fui showrunner en tres temporadas de Hulu's Harlots.

My name is Moira Buffini and I am a dramatist, screenwriter, showrunner and most recently, novelist. My debut novel is called Songlight and is published by Faber. I was born in England to Irish parents and wrote my first play aged fourteen. Since then I have written many plays, four of them for the UK's National Theatre. I have also written plays for the Almeida and Kiln, and two of my plays, Dinner and Handbagged, have transferred to London's West End. As a screenwriter, I have written four feature films (Jane Eyre, Tamara Drewe, Byzantium and The Dig). I also co-created and was showrunner on three seasons of Hulu's Harlots.
