Q: Can I use the base cart without the microwave shelf top piece? Would the base look unfinished, because of holes or something in it for the top?

A: When assembling, I was rolling the bottom part of the cart around with no problem and it didn't look unfinished but there are four holes on the top that are not really a big deal.

I purchased a microwave cart in January for my father(grey). We liked it so we decided to get one for our apartment a few months later(mahogany). The quality of this item significantly decreased. It's made with cheaper material. The handles on the first one we ordered were metal this one came with cheap plastic handles. This is ridiculous same product different color but not the same. Even the instructions for putting it together were not the same.
The material was not what I expected. Low Grade.
