Book Synopsis
Modernism in Context explores the architectural legacy of Lionel Morrison, whose commitment to modernism and approach to design have been consistent from his first project to the present. Modernism in Context: Homes by Lionel Morrison explores the architectural legacy of renowned architect Lionel Morrison, whose commitment to modernism and approach to design have been consistent and steadfast from his first project to the present. The 14 homes presented in this collection share similar or even identical building programs, yet each exhibits a strikingly unique appearance, being specifically designed for the surrounding environment and according to the client's needs. Illustrated with stunning color photography and detailed floor plans, the selected homes trace Morrison's career from Texas to California to New Mexico. Arranged in chronological order, the residences illustrate how Morrison's architectural point of view, formed early in his career, has led to a consistent and distinguished body of work. This book is perfect for those interested in architecture, residential design, and modernism. It is also an invaluable resource for architectural students and academics, offering insights into the design process from a contemporary modernist architect who has a distinctive style all his own.About the Author
