About this item
Highlights
- Mahogany Body with Maple Top: Unlike other guitars using inexpensive woods, Indio 66 DLX Plus guitars feature the same mahogany bodies and maple tops used in premium guitars costing several times their price. Mahogany is considered to be one of the, if not the best tonewood for electric guitars. Its tonal properties make mahogany perfect for electric guitars, delivering sustain and legendary growl. Mahogany has been used in some of the most iconic electric guitars of all time and can be found in modern high end instruments today.
- Professionally Set Up In California by Our Master Luthier: In addition to better materials and specs, what really separates Indio DLX Plus guitars from others is the exceptional playability out of the box. Every Indio DLX Plus guitar is domestically QC'd and setup by our Master Luthier in Southern California. This ensures perfect playability out of the box, providing a playing experience that is superior to any guitar costing several times the price.
- Soap Bar Pickups: Soap bar pickups are sought after and revered, and come standard in all Indio 66SB DLX Plus guitars. Thicker and darker than single coils, soap bars sit somewhere in the middle, producing the midrange growl and the twangy highs that the humbuckers lack. In other words, Indio 66SB DLX Plus guitar pickups deliver the perfect balance of tonal characters and the best of both worlds.
- Classic, High End Styling: Besides practical reasons like tone and playability, Indio DLX Plus guitars are attractive for their high end looks and finishes. Indio DLX Plus guitars deliver classic body styling with high end touches only found in instruments costing several times more. Featuring a bound body and neck, trapezoid inlays on the rosewood fingerboard, and high output humbuckers, Indio DLX Plus guitars deliver equally in both tone and looks.
- Professionally setup in the United States by our Master Luthier to play flawlessly out of the box, DLX Plus guitars will sound and feel like instruments costing several times the price.

Plays well for the price. However, it has a minor flaw in the finish which I'm not happy with, but I've already sent one back for flaws and this second one is better than the first, so I'll just live with it. I guess you get what you pay for. Also, the gold color is significantly different/lighter than what is depicted on the website. I would have preferred the darker richer gold as shown online.
Not what I was expecting, well not really

Having read several reviews on here about this guitar, and seen a few YouTube reviews, I decided to take a chance on this. I've purchased from Monoprice before and the guitar I bought then was pretty good. The colors on this guitar looked decent enough. The guitar also came in a pretty decent gig bag. That's about all I can say positive for the guitar though. Upon unboxing, the bridge p90 was not screwed into the body and had been wedged in between the strings and body. The body has gluey gunk in a few spots and is also a bit more misshapen than I'd thought it would be. The narrow portion of the body is much thinner than I thought, giving this guitar more of an hourglass shape than I thought it would have. The neck was warped and the binding on the neck was bubbling severely all around the edge. So much so that it was inflating the dimensions of the neck. I was really looking forward to this, but I guess it's to be expected. I could have asked for a replacement I'm sure, but nah, I'll spend a bit more and get an Epiphone GoldTop with p90's from Reverb.

We are in the golden age of guitar building. With the advent of CNC machining and a well trained overseas workforce, companies are pumping out some excellent products and Monoprice is no exception. I remember when I bought my boys electric guitars about 15 years ago for around the same price and those were horrible let me tell you, wouldn?t stay in tune long enough to get through one song. Well that has changed and speaking of golden age, this Gold 66SB DLX Plus P90 version I purchased about 6 months ago came to me flawless, action, intonation, build just flawless and I like the headstock, not crazy about the name branding (I would prefer it to just say ?Monoprice?). The P90?s, which is why I bought this model, growl and it sounds and plays really well. I?ve been playing for over 30 years, own an authentic Les Paul and Fender Professional Strat so I have plenty to compare this to. I plan to replace the electronics at some point with a kit, but it sounds great as is. Buy it and I hope yours comes as flawless as mine did. If you are looking to buy a first guitar for your children or even yourself, it is unbelievable the quality of this compared to 15 years ago, let me tell you. It should not disappoint!

This guitar is great-----Has great fit and finish---No problems to note---String to Pickup pole piece alignment is good on this guitar---Makes me feel like I've got John Fogerty's 1956 Gibson Les Paul Gold top P90's guitar--It's a grat value for the money----I've bought other Indio by Monoprice guitars and they all had serial numbers on them but this one has none unknown why---Maybe Indio is no longer assigning serial numbers to their guitars---It doesn't change the fact that it's a great guitar but I guess I like to see the number on it---It kind of makes it an exclusive and unique entity but guitar is great nonetheless---

Back in the day, I had a twentieth anniversary Gibson Les Paul. I then subsequently sold it because I needed a Fender Rhodes to play keyboards for my band. Of course, I regret selling this guitar to this day. It had a neck of iron and was in excellent condition. I can only imagine it's value today. Now retired, I was looking for an LP to add to my guitar collection so I could get that classic LP tone. This guitar fits the bill. Upon receiving it I noticed that the top of the box, at the headstock, was bent and ripped. Worried that the headstock and neck was possibly damaged upon removing the guitar I was lucky that everything was fine. It arrived in good shape, with low action, and the neck was straight. There was a slight buzz from the high E string but that's a simple fix. The neck is slim and straight and it fits my hand well. It's easy to move up and down the neck as it's not sticky from too much gloss. It's affordable and fits my needs perfectly. .
It's worth it even if you do have to send it back for a replacement in my opinion.

Would definitely order again for the value you get for the money! Only set back is just as earlier views I've seen your purchase may be defective so look over it well upon receiving to see if it is up to your standards. If it is not they will refund or replace your item. All in all it took between 3 and 4 weeks before I finally got just what I was looking for.
rare to see these specs for such a low price

setup very decent out of the box. appears to be a full top not a veneer. the best part is the location of the tuners, sort of "PRS" where they made an attempt to have the strings come straight across the (bone) nut rather than a double break angle, helps with tuning stability. my plan is to modify it with a duesenberg trem, roller bridge, firebird pickup in the bridge (ala Neil Young). I thought it would be a great mod platform and really looks like it will be

I?ve got to say, this guitar is phenomenal for the money. Arrived in excellent condition, setup was spot on. All I had to do was tune it up, and it was good to go. Monoprice knocked it out of the park on this one. Kudos.

Outstanding guitar for the price. Good fit and finish. Decent sound. Minor problem with frets, three spots where strings buzzed and two high spots where the note on the lower fret would not sound. I spent about one and a half hours touching up the frets and making adjustments. Now this guitar plays, sounds and looks good.
Lotta bang for the buck & a beauty!

A gold top P90 single cut was on my short list, so I had to buy it. Nice platform for modding - mahogany with maple cap body. Neck will need some work - a few a high frets. Pickups sound good. Wiring has some issues - cutting in & out. But those are easy fixes. Up close the finish has some flaws, but from back a few feet she's a looker!

I actually owned a 1968 Gibson Gold Top although the pickups had been removed and replaced with Dirty Finger pickups..the tone and playability of this Monoprice Indio Gold Top is significantl better..the fretboard plays like butter with a wide range of tone available depending ontheway you dial it in..could not be happier with this naturally resonant guitar
Wish I could enjoy it but my Monoprice 5 watt amp is defective and nobody will respond to me

I am more of a neck humbucker, clean jazz tone kind of guy, but I have never owned a guitar with P-90's and I wanted to give them a try. I like them. The guitar came beautifully set up, with only a few tweaks to the intonation needed. Nice low action with no buzzing. To get a mahogany neck and body, with a set neck and carved maple cap at this price, is a very nice deal. I tuned it down to C# Standard and it sounds great.
