    Good guitar, crazy heavy

I bought this guitar a couple years ago, have done some minor setup adjustments, rewired the tone controls and added a tremolo stabilizer and a vintage style pearloid pickguard but otherwise it has been rock solid as is and my go to guitar for traditional Strat sounds. I own 30 guitars of every size and shape and every time I'm about to pick this guitar up I brace myself, expecting to be shocked at how heavy it is and every time I'm literally stunned that it's even heavier than I expected. In my studio environment it's absolutely hilarious, but I probably wouldn't be so amused if I was playing it live for hours. My chiropractor would be laughing all the way to the bank. I wouldn't have it any other way...

I love this thing... right out of the box, it sounds good-enough. Of course I'm gonna mess with it, so do what you will. New strings immediately, but otherwise it's playable with some adjustments or just beat it to death as-is. Smilingly.

only needed minor setup, a little more filing of the fret ends, and the frets were already polished and leveled. I love the rosewood neck. I have nothing to complain about. I will add locking tuners and possibly a pickup swap, however the stock pickups sound very good.

I'm giving this guitar 5 stars because for the money you can't ask for better. Sure you may need to do some setup. You may want to do upgrades but this is the case with any budget or midrange guitar. I'm quite happy with it as it is but if I choose to upgrade later I will still come out way ahead. On the heavy side as it is ash, the sustain is really impressive. Tuning stability is rock solid. As is or as a modding platform you really can't lose!

This is my second Monoprice guitar. The first was a Cali Tele and this Strat. They keep on getting better. This Strat is very good. It arrived in four days (Mich.) in perfect condition. Playable right out of the box. Nut was cut right, frets were clean, level and smooth. Trem Block is large and heavy. The electronics are clean and solid. I recommend this guitar for anyone interested in a good Strat. Great dollar value. Thank you Monoprice.

Excellent guitar with a comfortable neck. Didn't have much to do on it when it arrived. It had one fret that was slightly high but that was really it other than a minor truss rod adjustment. For those that want to know specs mine came through with dime sized pots. It holds tune well. I would recommend this guitar to anyone especially beginners or those who want a solid mod base. This guitar would a much better choice then cheaper guitars for beginners. The only thing I would like to see is Monoprice to start double boxing their guitars before shipping. I own four Indio guitars and this is the only one that has not been damaged in some way during shipping.

Giving it 3.5 stars, but rounding down since that?s not possible. Mostly good overall, but arrived with the bottom strap button indented/smashed about 1/4 inch into the body, and with a different (seemingly more cheaply made) bridge than presented in the photos. Not worth sending back for those things, but wanted to note them. Everything else seems to look and work ok and it plays well enough for the price, but please PLEASE start packing these better! The product box was torn up and wholly inadequate to ship by itself. These should be double boxed with padding in between.

A great guitar from fit to finish! The guitar was set up perfectly, string height, and intonation! I blocked the tremolo, I don't use it anyway, it keeps in tune better now! The pickups are pretty good, I might replace them later. The neck is set up ok and it feels great in my hands. The strings are a good quality string, I won't replace them until later! In all, this is a very fine guitar, love playing it!

I recieved a cheap strat copy. The picture and description says it has a 2 post bridge, Mine came with the cheap 6 screw and the half size trem block. Also supposed to come with Alnico PUPs, mine came with cheap ceramic crap. I returned it for a refund.

    Great Deal In A Guitar.

This guitar is amazing. It's built with good woods, and the workmanship is almost perfect (One minor flaw.) This guitar is a very good deal. I like the maple neck, because of the sturdiness of maple (How many Gibson and Epiphone headstocks have you seen snap off ?) Using maple, for the neck, along with a Fender style design around the headstock make this guitar look sturdy. The sound of the guitar is just lovely. I play jazz (no distortion or string bending.) The tone is clear, but with a thickness (fullness) with the stock pickups. The tuners are good. All in all, I call this a heck of a deal. The neck profile on this guitar is a little thicker than the Squiers.

I'm giving this a 5 star review even though I'm sending it back because the body had two small stain marks on the front. I've already purchased the same guitar in a different color because I was so impressed by the set up, build quality, body, pick ups and bridge I have a fender strat. The pick ups and bridge are way better than what came in that guitar. The only thing you really need to do is change the nut though it is cut fine and works well. Having said that, I still plan on upgrading the pups, nut and tuners because I plan on keeping and playing this guitar a long time. I did the same thing with may MIM strat. Now it is super heavy but the sustain on this guitar is -really- good and much better than my upgraded MIM. Luckily I'll be playing this guitar sitting down most of the time.

It is a beautiful Stratocaster. It sounds and plays well. I?ve tightened the tremolo as I don?t use it and will most likely block it as I?ve done on my Fender Stratocaster for better tuning stability and sustain. The strings were corroded. Not sure how that happened. Maybe exposed to moisture in the warehouse. This should have been noticed when setup. I have to replace the strings which I alway do anyway unless it comes with a quality string. These are cheap and terrible. I took a star away due to the lousy strings. I think it is worth the price paid.

I was kind of apprehensive about buying this because it was so inexpensive. However I thought with a solid ash body, maple neck, And rosewood finger board if it was decent how could you go wrong. All I can say is wow! There were absolutely no flaws that I could find! Set up was great right out of the box. The neck has a flatter radius than a fender strat, for me that makes playing it easier because of my large hands. Feels and plays at least as well as the mim strat I had a number of years ago. Frets were dressed nicely and there were no fret sprouts at all. Satin finish on the neck makes playing a dream.

This is a fantastic instrument that will need just a little set up work, mostly dealing with slightly sharp fret edges. The pickups are AlNiCo and each of the 5 positions sounds very unique - something I don?t notice on other instruments as much. The Ash body is beautiful and the entire instrument feels really solid! I compare it to main brand guitars easily!

Oh I'll be getting another. Great piece at a great price. Was set up pretty good. And I'm pretty picky when it comes to getting a guitar that's so far out of intonation that you have to start from scratch. I didn't do anything to this except change strings. I don't know what these are that came with it? But definitely don't feel like any D'Addario I ever played.. Other than that awesome guitar and I'll be getting another.

Large water stain in center piece of wood. Wanted to keep it but the water stain is an eyesore. I wasn't happy with the 9.5 lb weight and the 3 piece body, but the sound was wonderful especially positions 2 and 4 with the alnicos. Great value, but the water stain raised negative comments from the wife and kids. I would be happier with an unstained 1-2 piece ash body with the axe in the 7-8.5 pound range.
