Q: Will this work in a "single" Display Port rather than a "dual" Display Port? I can't determine whether the PC has a single or dual Display port. Thanks!
submitted by ORB - 2 years ago
A: Hi ORB, thanks for reaching out about the Monoprice DisplayPort 1.2a to 4K HDMI Active Adapter, Black. Yes, this adapter will work on a computer or laptop that has a DisplayPort port. Most computers have 2 DisplayPort ports to connect dual monitors. If you have any additional questions, we welcome you to contact MyTGTtech at 833-848-8324 every day, between 7 am-11 pm CST.

Q: I have display port on monitor and HDMI on laptop. Would like to connect the laptop (HDMI) to monitor with (Display port) . Does it work by connecting to display port on the monitor?
submitted by Sam - 4 years ago
A: Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, this is an active adapter that will work in one direction only. This is meant for a monitor with an HDMI port and PC/laptop with DisplayPort.

It works great. I wish it had worked the first time I connected it, but that could be my setup, and not a limitation of the adapter.
I have mine connected to my video card (EVGA RTX 2080 Super). It is then connected by HDMI to my Denon AVR-X6300H, which is connected to my 2014 Samsung 4K TV UN60HU8550 (8 bit non HDR). I purchased this adapter because the Insignia adapter I purchased at Best Buy started giving me a ?No Signal? message when I would switch my AV Receiver to the PC input. I first purchased a Cable Matters adapter from Amazon first that actually costs more than this one. Not long after I started using the CM adapter, I started experiencing sporadic picture loss. I?m still not sure if this was the adapter or a temporary issue with my PC. That is the main reason I purchased this one. I was disappointed when I first connected the Monoprice adapter, because I got a ?No Signal? message. I unplugged and replugged the HDMI and DP adapter several times (which would usually remedy the Insignia adapter), but it did nothing. I reconnected the CM adapter and got a picture, and then swapped it out for the Monoprice adapter. It worked. The Monoprice adapter has been working for over 24 hours with several reboots and turning the receiver and TV off and back on. II hope this continues to work for me. In case anyone is curious... The reason I am using the adapter is because I have to connect my Oculus Rift to the HDMI port of my video card, and need video to the monitor (TV) at the same time. I will say that putting a receiver between the PC and monitor with an adapter for HDMI is a tricky endeavor at best. I am a cable technician and run into HDMI issues on customer?s TVs regularly. I just want to say that I am not at all surprised that I have had difficulty getting this to work. It is working though, and that?s the point.

A good value adapter.
This adapts well. Not sure what else to say other than it’s a good price for a good adapter. Stay safe, wear a mask, etc.

Make sure you want this.
The adapter works fine. Beware, however, that some devices (notably laptops) will balk at the idea of going from display port to HDMI back to micro display port (looks like USB-C). I found that while I was using this with a display port KVM, I had some issues and was unable to make use of this adapter for my setup. So again, this is a fine product, but be sure that you get the right thing.

Works great with my VR headset
All I can say is that, it does what it suppose to do, as I'm using it with my windows Mixed Reailty VR headset to plug it into Display port, instead of the single HDMI that I have on my GPU. It works without any issues at all.

Works 85% of Time
1) It works smoothly 85% of time. Rest of time one monitor, regardless of A or B system, won’t work. Not a monitor issue because it has occurred with each randomly 2) No off switch so will beep constantly looking for a signal if both computers are off. Resolve by unpluging unit.

Gets the job done. I have a triple monitor gaming computer. The GPU has 3 DisplayPort jacks and one HDMI jack. These adapters worked perfectly to connect the GPU to my monitors.

Flawless
Bought two of these to use in EyeFinity with my AMD GPUs. Just bought a new 5700 XT and used two DP>HDMI and the native HDMI. No issues. As always, great price and quick shipping.

Great Product
I received this Display Port to HDMI adapter and it worked extremely well on my wife's HP laptop computer. Both the video and sound came through fine. I tried it on two different HD Televisions.

Working fine so far.
So far it's working fine sending a good signal from the computer to the TV. But I've only had it a few days. Now to see how well it holds up over the long haul.
