About this item
Highlights
- Semi-Hollow Sound Chambers: The solid maple block center, increases sustain and reduces susceptibility to feedback in high volume situations, while maintaining big, warm acoustic overtones.
- Versatile: mellow tone, makes it well-suited to playing jazz, blues, or rock.
- Semi-Acoustic: The semi-hollowbody construction resonates like an acoustic guitar, but much quieter, making it great for late night practicing.
- Classic Styling: Enjoy the classic styling, originating from the need to get the guitar volume above the big brass bands of the 30s and 40s. Full hollow bodied guitars have a tendency to generate feedback, so the semi-hollow guitar gives players the best of both worlds.
- Included Gig Bag: All Indio Boardwalk Semi-Hollowbody Electric Guitars ship with a protective Gig Bag to defend your axe against dings and scratches as you travel.
Description
Semi-hollowbody guitars are lighter and more resonant than their solid body cousins. This gives a mellow tone, making it well-suited to playing jazz, blues, or rock. Indio Boardwalk guitars feature a double cutaway and include a solid maple block center, increasing sustain and reducing susceptibility to feedback in high volume situations. Enjoy the classic styling, originating from the need to get the guitar volume above the big brass bands of the 30s and 40s. Full hollow bodied guitars have a tendency to generate feedback, so the semi-hollow guitar gives players the best of both worlds. Before we ship your new guitar, it is setup by hand in Southern California by our own Master Luthier. Setups include having the frets filed so they are free of sharp edges, ensuring that the nut and bridge are properly seated at the correct height, that the strings have the right amount of action with no buzzing, and that the electronics are functioning properly, so you can plug in and play right out of the box! Take center stage and rock out on a Friday night or worship on Sunday morning.

Not perfect, but worth the money.

Finish is beautiful. Several fret edges had to be filed down prior to playing, and I had to shake left over wood shavings out of the front holes; however, I feel the guitar is a still quite a bargain for the prices.
awesome for the money

who could want more for the price? Even tho' the pickups are pretty bright, I love them. The quality of this thing is way above it's price class - it's not perfect, but only those with unrealistic expectations would be disappointed. The finish is slick, the intonation is right on, and like I said, the sound is really good. I've got 2 custom shop Gibsons & of course, anybody could tell the difference -but you get almost 90% for what most of us do for less than 10% of the price? Sign me up every time.

This is a nice guitar. It?s well made, has a beautiful charcoal burst gloss finish, and has the wonderful mellow sound of a semi-hollowbody guitar. The blacked out hardware is a nice touch. I learned about this guitar from the guitar gear bloggers on YouTube. They ALL gave it great reviews. Some of the older reviews mentioned that the fret ends needed more polishing, and there was some nitpicking about the size and font of the Indio logo. More recent reviews indicate that these issues have been addressed. MY Indio guitar has polished fret ends and it APPEARS to me that the logo is a bit smaller. The fit and finish are EXCELLENT, so perhaps Monoprice has listened to customer complaints and has tightened up their QC. The BIG news here is the PRICE. EVERYONE, myself included, is STUNNED by how INEXPENSIVE this guitar is. The $250 list price is a STEAL! The YouTube bloggers claim that this guitar will go head-to-head with other 335 style guitars costing 3 times as much! I agree.
Great guitar. Poor setup.

I went with the higher model that supposedly included setup by someone here in the US. The setup wasn?t done well at all. I?m dealing with some issues of fret buzz and a few other adjustments needed. I can?t imagine how it left the hands of the technician in that state. Otherwise the guitar is beautiful, and will sound great soon.
NOT Flamed Maple

I just received this guitar November 20, 2022 and it was obviously a return. The guitar was tuned and there was no paper on the strings. I suspect the previous buyer also realized the top is not flamed maple. It may be maple but it is certainly not flamed. There is a very faint spray paint striping designed to look like flame but definitely NOT flamed wood. This is very disappointing. I've attached a photo from the description (Amazon) and the actual guitar I received. The horns are completely black, not burst like the description photo. There are several minor finish flaws. The medium jumbo frets are sprouted and sharp and will require filing. This caused the binding to crack in several places. Fret crowns are very rough and will require polishing. On the bright side, the tuners are very good quality and the hardware appears to be decent. Unplugged, the guitar has a pleasant, resonant tone.

You have heard it before. It's a great deal for the money! This one truly is. Flawless finish, quiet electronics, nice inlays, decent pickups. Even comes with a nice gig bag. This guitar is easily worth $400.00-$500.00 if it was domestically made. The only thing that I will warn you of is that the neck is pretty chunky. People with smaller hands may want to look elsewhere or buy it and get out the sandpaper.

Had to return this guitar as there was significant fret lift (gaps between frets and the fretboard) occuring all along the treble side of the fretboard. The replacement guitar that was sent had the exact same issue so that was returned for a full refund. I bought this guitar based on great youtube reviews so this was disappointing.

Amazing guitar for the money. It?s very playable right out of the box, but of course I lowered lthe action even more. It is capable of a genuine jazz sound, which is not true of all 335 type guitars. You can rock out as well. It has a warm sound, very Gibsony. If you want a 335 guitar but don?t have 3k dollars this is the one to get. It?s actually a 339 copy, slightly smaller than a 335.

Excellent for the price, better quality than i was expecting, some minor issues, the high E can get caught on the 5th fret if things get wild, but that only happened once and then when i was trying to figure out what happened, guitar sounds awesome plays awesome and its worth every penny i paid for it

Overall, very happy with my purchase. For the price, it?s an incredible value. Minor ?issues?: a screw on the bridge was chewed up, the neck needed slight adjustment to improve playability, tone pots don?t really do much until you get to ?3?
Wow!

This plays and feels nicer than any expense hollow body. Comes with D?Addario strings which is a plus.

I'm impressed with the Monoprice Indeo Boardwalk electric guitar. It was well finished, and well setup, except that on the high E string, the fourth fret was too low, so that when I fretted there the string was deadened and would not make a sound. All other strings and frets were fine. I've taken the guitar in to a local guitar shop, where I am paying to have the fret raised, and the setup redone. This problem should have been obvious to whoever set up the guitar. I do like the guitar though, and it is certainly worth its price.
Reliable playable, with minor issues

I am rating it based on the price point expectations I had before ordering. It is a really great guitar. You have to expect that it will come with some defects and issues. Small paint/binding issues, some glue and wood chips loose inside the guitar that I took out. The guitar wasn?t set up well on arrival. I did a string change and truss rod adjustment to get rid of some fretting out on the first fret. The components are cheap, input Jack was broken shortly after my first show with it. The guitar itself is solid! Well built, stays in tune. Neck is very thick. I would purchase another even with issues. I wasn?t expecting a perfect guitar just something that I can play hard and maybe replace some components down the road.
Great guitar for small money

This thing is pretty good .... plays great and is quite pretty ..... the only thing that needed work was very scratchy frets .... but an hour of polishing them with fret erasers took care of that and since, I'vebeen playing it constantly. I've been playing 60 years and have 22 guitars including some big money gits ...... still gig 3-5 a week. I love guitars that outperform their price level and this one does ....... I'd gig this guitar for sure. A nice 335 type guitar that's astonishingly affordable
One of my favorite ones to pick up and play.

Love this Guitar. Few Upgrades I will make. Of all my guitars, this is usually my favorite one to pick up and play. Looks beautiful, plays so smoothly. Only Taking off one Star for the Upgraded Hardware I will replace.

I purchased the charcoal guitar, the body was in excellent condition and the sound is great. The problem that I'm having is string/fret buzz on the low E and A string around the 5th fret area. I may need to spend more time adjusting the truss rod. The string action height is pretty high now and still having problems.

I finally have the guitar I wanted and I am very happy. The first shipment had a blemish and Monoprice support was awesome. They issued and RMA and by the end of the week I had a replacement. The guitar sounds wonderful and barely needs a setup. Just new strings.
