Good sound, needed fretwork

The pickups sound great and the body is pretty good quality. However, some dead spots in the neck because of several high frets. Needed a luthier's attention to be playable.

I have purchased other Indio guitars. I have a Cali 66 and a Boardwalk. They are good guitars for the money. This offset Jaguar type guitar however, is really good. I had to do a bit of a setup but I have had to do that on way more expensive guitars too. So, not a big deal. I reduced the relief in the neck, lowered the pickups, lowered the bridge, installed inexpensive locking tuners and new strings. And guess what? This guitar plays and sounds great. I am really enjoying it and I know others will too. By tje wau. I own 14 guitars and have been playing for over 50 years.
Great offset for the price!

Love the guitar. Needed some fret-work to address sharp ends. Replaced the tuners because I wanted an upgrade. Replaced strings as well. The fit/finish was excellent. Got it on sale, so the new tuners did not raise the cost of the normally priced guitar. I got the blue one, the color is much better than the picture on the website.
Punches way above its weight class...

I saw this OS-40 in blue...and it was on sale! How could I say "no"? Fit and finish are better than expected, the neck and frets feel good. It was obvious that someone had taken the time to set it up as the action and intonation were (mostly) acceptable. The low-E string's intonation was a bit sharp, and the saddle is maxed out. However, a tiny bit of compromise on the tuning (make it a touch flat) and then the pitches up the string line up nicely. The pickups far exceed my expectations. They look like P-90's, but I think they are intended to be imitations of the Jazzmaster's soap bar pickups. The product description says that they are supposed to sound somewhere between a single-coil and a humbucker, and I think that is about right. I think the sound favors the single-coil sound a little more and that is confirmed by playing my other guitar with the humbuckers. This guitar also comes with a real honest-to-goodness gig bag! It is at best light to medium-duty, but at this price point that is still a massive bonus. Oh, and it's blue. Daddy digs blue!

Nice guitar. Of course, it does require a setup and fretwork.
Stabilize that noisy bridge

The rocker bridge annoyed me, although I understand what Leo was thinking (get Bigsby-depth vibrato cheaply). It would often start buzzing (it's the bridge inside the "thimbles" doing that) when it rested near the side. This happens on the original, that company sells a plastic stabilizing insert, but that would dampen the most important part of the guitar. So I found and cut the perfect dimension steel tubing to stabilize it without dampening (or replacing) the bridge. And cut some intonation screws to avoid sitar sounds and added longer saddle height grubs on the ends (better than shims). I also put in locking tuners and got an antique white tremelo bar tip to match the rest (it was white on my natural guitar). Strap locks (a bit noisy but this guitar is heavy as it should be). The guitar sounds and plays terrific now, and the stabilized trem keeps in tune and gives enough range for my needs. Great deal overall.
Great playing guitar and P90 sound

This is the only guitar I have with these pick ups. But the guitar as a whole is really nice looking and playing. The natural wood grain is not flat looking like the pictures (thank goodness) but has a very nice gloss overcoat that shines in the light and feels wonderful. I really like this offset feel too. Comfortable and nice rich sound.

Mine came with no real flaws other then setup but, the truss rod was loose, bridge radius was way off, action 1/4 off the neck and although not as bad as my other cheaper Indios, fret ends needed work. The hight E string broke the first day due to an overly snug nut slot. Plays nice now, after 2 hours of setup work.

Love this! It's better than I had anticipated. The frets are a little sharp and the neck is every so slightly thicker than my previous guitar but it sounds and feels great. Well worth it.

The sounds and playability of this guitar is just amazing! I don't know how they can build such a quality instrument for such a low price. This P90's sound incredible for the price.
Hopefully I will have one again soon

I received the guitar, open up the box only to find the tremolo bar missing, I immediately contacted Monoprice and I was told I had to return the whole guitar as they were unable to supply me with just the tremolo arm. I didn't even get a chance to really play it, it did seem okay for a quick inspection, but I've been waiting now for a while for the replacement to show up

Great guitar for the money. One minor complaint. Mine came without a whammy (tremolo) bar. I contacted Monoprice but haven't gotten a response.
Nearly perfect!

Wasn't sure what to expect for the price but was blown away by the quality. As good or better than a CV 60s with an Alder body. The P90s work well in this and sound great. Fit and finish were spot on. I really love the necks that Monoprice is putting on these. Very comfortable C profile and great satin finish on the back. My only complaint was that the trem bar was too large to fit. Not sure how that even happens and I am sure they will resolve it on the next run. That is the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars. Other than that this is probably the best JM Offset guitar you will find for the money.
it won't play right need a lot of work

Klon Centaur overdrive pedals now sell for $3,000 or more. Savvy guitarists are selling their Klons and buying $40-$200 overdrive pedals that sound pretty close. The Indio by Monoprice Offset OS40 DLX Plus Alder Electric Guitar with Gig bag is $199! Get one. After you play it for a while you may also become savvy and realize that new, similar style, brand name guitars may be overpriced. Whether you play in a dim lit room or in the spotlight on stage, this axe looks, plays, and sounds great! No guitar is perfect, but the Offset OS40 DLX Plus I received is pretty close. At $199, delivered?what the heck are you waiting for !
Love the guitar, but needs a few things.

Beautiful guitar, but...the tremolo arm didn't fit. The hole in the bridge was too small. Contacted Monoprice, they offered a refund or an exchange. Decided to carefully ream out the hole with a small, fine circular file. Fret ends as usual were very sharp, easy fix with a foam sanding block. Other than those two bugs, I love the guitar. Wonderful neck, plays and sounds great. Fret work was excellent (except for the VERY sharp ends). Oh, and the bridge saddles are garbage. They are good copies of the original Fender saddles, but those were garbage too. $20 at Eyguitar for brass replacements.
