Q: Why does this company use Maltodextrin in all their products?
submitted by R M - 4 months ago
A: We use maltodextrin (sourced from corn) in small quantities in some of our foods to improve texture and product quality.

Q: The package says 6 servings- is a serving one or two "sausage" patties?
submitted by Autumn - 6 months ago
A: A serving is 1 patty.

Q: What are the “natural flavors”?
submitted by madiileigh - 6 months ago
A: We don’t have a list of specific ingredients in the natural flavors to share because the flavor recipe is unique and owned by our suppliers. The majority of natural flavor components used in our products are derived from a plant source such as concentrated fruits, vegetables and/or spices.

Q: The ingredients as listed are not vegan, but the vegan label has been applied on the website. Which is true? Thank You! :)
submitted by ChessPlayer - 1 year ago
A: We are now producing this product without egg and milk ingredients. Stores may have the old version in stock so look for the word VEGAN on the package to be sure you are buying the new vegan version.

Summary of reviews
The recent recipe change of these sausage patties has left many guests disappointed, as they no longer enjoy the same flavor and texture that made them a favorite. While some guests appreciate the high protein content and vegan aspect, the overall consensus is that the new version lacks the meaty taste and satisfying consistency of the original. Guests are eager for the return of the previous recipe, which they fondly remember as a staple in their diets.

The new spice blend makes these taste terrible. Please remove them and go back to the original flavor profile. The aftertaste was so bad I'm looking up other meatless morning sausage because I am done with these.
Yep, they changed the recipe

Absolutely horrendous. I’ve gone meatless by these things and was eating 4 a day for years. They look fake and taste even worse. This ain’t it boss.

I appreciate these reviews. The word "Original" on the package is misleading.

Bring back the original recipe! The new vegan version is disappointing and lacks flavor. I'm going to try cooking them in a skillet tomorrow & hopefully they will be better.
Worst decision ever

These were disappointingly mislabeled. The recipe changed to possibly include either trumpet mushrooms, oyster mushrooms & an additional spice (possibly coriander, all spice, star anise, or cardamom) that threw everything off balance. There was an unpleasant, slightly sweet aftertaste as well. Might be good for a demographic that eats seafood & is trying to decrease purine intake while still consuming enough protein. But honestly, this tastes like a recipe that makes people inherently dislike vegan, or vegetarian options. If other ingredients were added to enhance the seafood flavors, it might make a good substitute for fishcakes that are inundated with saturated fat & cholesterol. Might work if the additional spice was removed, more oyster mushrooms were added, along with some shiitake mushrooms & kombu. This did NOT taste like the original recipe, which tasted like it was considerately made for American palates in an attempt to substitute unhealthy fast food with healthy options. Please discontinue this & bring the old recipe back, or change the recipe to have it be appealing to a larger Asian American demographic because if certain substitutions were made to the recipe, this would be convenient to have in a fresh Vietnamese summer roll, or Filipino style lumpia ng sariwa.
I wasted my money on these!

These taste awful now. I wasted my money because I couldn't eat them and threw the whole bag away. I can't understand why you'll would change the seasoning of these sausage patties. They used to be so good. Whoever gave the ok to change the seasoning should be fired.

I used to like these breakfast sausage patties but haven't bought them in a while. I came here to read reviews and after reading the reviews, I must agree. This recipe change is just horrible!!! The flavor is terrible! I understand trying to make them with a healthier oil but the seasoning is awful. Why would you change the seasoning?

I bought these to try at breakfast along with buffalo chicken patties to eat on keto bread and chic'n strips to eat on keto pita bread. The chick'n strips are good and I'll probably like the buffalo patties but the sausage patties are awful. I'm going to be forced to eat 4 or 5 at the time to hurry up and get rid of them. Real sausage is healthier than most people think, particularly turkey sausage. I woldn't ordinarily eat vegan products as the vegan lifestyle is linked to demonism and I'm certainly against that but I had heard good things, or actually read good thing about Morningstar Farms. But I do't know that I'll buy even their chik'n products again with the exception of the fries. Since I'm diabetic I can eat veggie fries and tots.
Bring back the old recipe!

For 80 calories and 10g protein a patty it isn’t bad. However the taste is terrible. Feels like I’m eating something made in a prison. I cooked it for 5+ minutes on high heat and the inside was still raw af. I think I’ll just stick to my Canadian bacon.
Why am I eating a charcoal briquette?

I've been eating these sausages for YEARS and they've helped me lose 150+ lbs. All of a sudden I've noticed a HUGE change in the recipe - they're harder and look like bricks of coal - AND there is no "meaty" flavor or moisture whatsoever. It's like I'm eating a patty of bread crumbs. Please bring back the old recipe - these are gross and I'm looking into other options. :(

I used to love these years ago when I stopped eating meat. I stopped buying them when they changed the recipe a while back and forgot why I haven’t bought them. I decided to get more this last week and they’re even worse than I remembered so I assume the recipe was changed from bad to worse. They cook into chunky mush and the new spicy sausage patty flavor is nauseating. I’m very disappointed. I never disliked something enough to leave a bad review until now. Oh well.
Love it

Welp, I came back to the reviews to see if something has changed about the gross new recipe. I guess they don't listen to their customers and would rather cover up real customer's feedback with boatloads of incentivized reviews (which are so obviously curated, MorningStar). I wish I could give these little disappointments 0 stars. So many lifelong customers are confused about the change and they decide to come out with a new 'hot and spicy' flavor with the disgusting recipe?! Seriously, their sales must've tanked the past few years on these, you'd think they'd come to their senses. Never thought I'd get so heated over some little patties!
it's all in how you prepare them.

I really wanted to like these, tried 3 different approaches to preparing them, very uninspired and will stick with Jimmy Dean 'till I find something reasonably acceptable as breakfast sausage.
