Milne died in 1956. Ernest H. Shepard was born in 1879 in England. His pictures of the Pooh characters are based on real toys owned by Christopher Robin Milne. This is a beautiful book! I bought this as a shower gift, it was on the registry. The book has nice thick, hard pages whose edges are covered in gold. I was so impressed by the contents of the book , as well as its look that I bought one for my granddaughter who will be born in September. Excellent value for the money!!
