I’m uncertain what exactly has been done with the flavor/ texture of these chips. Nestle would be better off removing these from market completely. Incredibly disappointed with these chips, and the quality of “butterscotch” taste produced by utilizing them.

I made cookies with them and they were absolutely delicious. They were soft and the Toll House - NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Butterscotch Flavored Morsels were gooey. My family couldn't atop eating them. We have bought more since first finding these!!

These chips tasted all right, but one of my family members didn't feel too great after eating them. They have a reaction to barley. Are any barley derivatives present as an ingredient? I saw that it was gluten free and we assumed that meant no barley ingredients. But after the reaction, we want to be sure so everyone in the family can be safe.

In have celiac and usually avoid the butterscotch morsels because they contained barley malt, however, when I picked up a bag at the grocery store they now say gluten free. Has the recipe changed?

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like to add butterscotch bits or tiny morsels, however you refer to them to take my classic chocolate chip cookies up a knotch. I gives them a nice taste of butterscotch. The flavor is not to powerful that it is overwhelming but just enough.

These are awesome and taste exactly like butterscotch. They do melt in an unappealing way as far as appearance. I have never gotten discolored chips and these work great for butterscotch desserts such as Creme brûlée!

These taste pretty good! Unfortunately, it’s not clear from ingredients list/packing that they are not gluten-free, because (apparently) one of the flavorings has barley in it. So even though you’d think butterscotch would be gluten-free, if you have celiac or are just sensitive to gluten, avoid these. My wife has celiac and we didn’t realize these wouldn’t be safe for her. It’s butterscotch, after all. Taste pretty good though!

I had a hankering for 7 layer bars. I haven't made them in years. I used Nestle Semi-sweet morsels and Nestle Butterscotch morsels. They were awful! The fake butterscotch smell and flavor was very artificial and over powering. I ended up throwing half the pan out. I made another batch using a generic store brand butterscotch and they were far better. I know I am not alone here on this topic. Why doesn't Nestle respond to this? I guess they don't care.

I’m so mad! I tried exactly the directions but couldn’t melt this garbage! Wanted to make” spiders “ w chow menu noodles at Xmas but had to throw entire wasted bowl of half melted chips ! Nestle should be ashamed !

I grew up with Nestlé butterscotch morsels as a pantry staple and oatmeal scotchies are a beloved childhood memory for both me and my daughter which I was looking forward to sharing with my first grandchild. Now that can never happen. When I took my first taste of the new but " the same" morsels, I nearly spit them out. Heads should roll at Nestlé. Whomever is responsible for this abomination which can barely be identified as butterscotch should be... I don't know, maybe force fed their creation until they repent and change back to the REAL Original butterscotch morsels.

No matter how I try to "melt" these they refuse to melt...just turn into a gob of clay-like goo! Pathetic. They have changed the formula somehow because we've been using the same recipes for Christmas candy for years. But these morsels are useless now.
