No Way Out (1987)

A U.S. Navy officer (Kevin Costner) meets and has a brief affair with a mysterious woman (Sean Young), but when she is murdered he learns that she was the mistress of the Secretary of Defense (Gene Hackman), who killed her. To make matters worse, he is assigned to "investigate" her death and realizes that evidence could make him the prime suspect.
