Description
There are a lot of nuts out there these days, but none as enjoyably edible as Walnuts. Theyre used in more cooked foods than perhaps any other nut in the world, making an excellent addition to salads, casseroles, desserts, breakfast foods, and more, and are just as good eaten raw, roasted, or toasted.Aside from their culinary popularity, Walnuts are an excellent source of nutrition, providing healthy fatty acids. Just like their nutty cousins, theyre also a good source of protein. Adding NOW Real Food Walnuts to your diet is a tasty and nutritious way to improve your health and well-being without going nuts.

They were very good. Very fresh which can make a big difference in the taste. They are horrible when they are rancid (stale)

Horrible. At least half of the bag is rotten and rancid even though the date is good. Old nuts. Will see if the squirrels will eat them because I can't.

I ordered these organic walnuts instead of my usual "Food to Live" product because they were less expensive. Unfortunately, they proved to be soft and they had a moldy smell. I guess you get what you pay for; the Food to Live walnuts are really crunchy and very fresh tasting. I will not be ordering the 'NOW Foods organic raw walnuts" again.

I love these. I often mix these with pieces of stevia-sweetend dark chocolate. Because the walnuts are unshelled, I store them in the refrigerator.

With all the nasty chemicals in most of our foods, it's good to be able to get walnuts like these that are raw and organic.
Dried out, Shriveled and Rotten

I bought 3 pkgs of these feeling safe that they are a NOW label. They taste terrible -- most nuts look shriveled and dried out, and some taste rotten. So the look and taste are bad, and I can't risk baking with them . I opened 2 pkgs to see if the first one was just a fluke -- but both were the same. Had to throw all 3 pkgs out -- a lot of money to waste I don't usually write reviews for food products -- but these walnuts were so bad, I thought people needed to know before they buy these.

I like to eat a few walnuts as a snack. I also live in an area where walnuts grow and they are available seasonally, so I'm used to lovely, fresh walnuts. The local supply ran out, so I bought a couple of these packages. They are terrible! Each one I eat is disgusting in a different way. Some are mushy, like they rotted. Some have a rancid taste. Others have an odd sweet flavor to them, almost like a raisin. I don't know what happened to these walnuts, but I think I'm going to feed them to my chickens. They are totally gross.

I generally trust NOW products, but the NOW organic walnuts are very poor quality-especially for eating them as a snack. I will return them and buy the Swanson organic walnuts again.

I purchased NOW organic walnuts, had them in my closet and forgot when I bought them (my fault) Then I decided to look for the best by date and there wasn't any. The mfg.. left it off. The walnuts looked rancid. I called NOW, and did get good info from their quality control dept that these need to be refridgerated. All the rep. said was he would throw them out - no offer of replacement. I know Swanson is fabulous but I figured it was my fault for not knowing when I bought them. I now look carefully for expiration dates. I threw these away and wasted the $8.99. NOW's fault for not having the expiration date printed on the bag.
Great price!

It is nice to have these delivered right to my door. I used to drive 60 miles round trip to buy them and they were more expensive. So glad Swanson carries these and shipping is so fast.

As a big fan of both raw Walnuts as a snack, and also NOW Foods as a company, I did not hesitate to order these Organic Raw Walnuts. I have been eating and thoroughly enjoying the Swanson Brand Organic Raw Walnuts, but they only come in a 5 ounce package, so for convenience sake I perused Swanson's website for Organic Walnuts in a larger size. This is the only one I found, and I figured 12 ounces would last a while longer than a 5 ounce package, and they were put out by NOW Foods, so I ordered these. Big disappointment!! These are only barely okay. I really didn't like the taste very much, and I considered tossing them out. Then I poured a lot of Himalayan Pink Crystal Salt into the bag and shook it up. I figured there was nothing to lose. If I still didn't like them, I'd go ahead and chuck them in the trash. But lo-and-behold, they turned out okay with a thorough coating of Himalayan Crystal Salt all over them. Not great, but edible. I won't order these again. I'll just keep ordering the Swanson Brand Organic Walnuts in that smallish 5 ounce size, and maybe get 2 or 3 bags at a time. They are wonderful just the way they are, with nothing added. Really great!! HOWEVER, since these are conveniently in a larger bag and also less expensive, if you do not simply eat your walnuts right out of the bag as a snack like I do, but you chop them up to use in baking, then these might work out okay for you. I don't bake, so I couldn't tell you for sure. They weren't rancid or bad tasting in that way. And if cooked and mixed in with lots of other sweet and yummy stuff, they might do the trick.
Rancid Tasting

I soak and dry raw nuts, usually buying from Trader Joe's. The quality of this brand of nuts is shockingly bad. When I processed these, the soaked water was WAY WAY darker and murkier than other walnuts I've purchased, and the nuts just taste bad. Other walnuts have a nice sweet taste when processed this way. Not these.
