However 4 months into having it, it started off gassing (mostly when exposed to sunlight - weird?) and we have had to remove it from her room. It had a horrible chemical smell. We used an air purifier, tried to air it out outside for a few days and then moved it into the garage where we continued to smell the awful smell. We have steam cleaned it twice, and the smell still isn’t gone. I want to love this rug so much, but we can’t put it back into her room and now don’t know what to do.

This rug claims to be Oeko Tex certified via the description on the site, but there is no label on the rug itself. I have had the rug over a year and it still smells, the room smells of faint gasoline. I cannot in good faith keep this rug and know feel good about it. I believe Rugs USA to be lying about this, because its polyester. It is soft, and nice, but not worth breathing chemicals and everything that comes with that breathing VOCs.

It is EXTREMELY soft, and nice and plush! She threw herself on the floor and claimed she’d rather sleep in this rug than in her own bed... this is how comfortable it is. Highly recommend!

The only issue I had was that it smelled awful when it first arrived! Almost like a skunk. I needed to leave the windows open for over a week, and candles burning during the day just to get rid of the smell.

I bought this rug three years ago for the bedroom. At first my wife and I were delighted by how soft and fluffy it was. However, I soon found that it was impossible to maintain. I became afraid to walk on it because it would grow dark and no amount of vacuuming or upholstery cleaning would quite get it out. The death sentence for this rug was a new kitten. She decided that she wanted somewhere to pee in our bedroom and chose this rug. It was impossible to get out the smell. Usually an enzymatic cleaner followed by the upholstery cleaner can get the job done, but it just wouldn't get deep enough for this high pile rug. We've ended up throwing this rug out at 3 years old so that our bedroom wouldn't reek. I don't miss it. My wife kinda does. But we've both agreed never to go high pile again.

Bought this rug 2 years ago and wanted to buy it again for a few rooms in our new home as it is SO soft and unlike any other rug I have found. This time around, though, I am so disappointed. The smell is absolutely HORRIBLE!! Upon it arriving in our garage I walked near that package and thought to myself that a skunk must have sprayed outside recently, because I smelled it so strongly. Little did I know, it was the rugs!! I opened them and the smell was unbearable. I let them "off gas" in garage for a week and then brought them indoors and up to bedrooms and the smell never went away. It stunk up the whole house. I opened windows, and tried to convince myself that it was getting better, but in the end, it wasn't. I am so disappointed because I really LOVE this rug!! I wish RugsUSA could look into this further and I am so surprised that other people haven't complained much about this horrible smell. We ordered a few sizes, and noticed the smell to be strongest with the 7'6" x 9'6" rug. There is certainly a defect with this particular size. Please beware!! It is terrible!

This rug is stunning - if you are the fence just buy it . This is the most beautiful thick plush cushiest rug I have ever purchased. I can’t stop putting my toes into it and when I do it’s heaven and I don’t even have my rug pad added yet. Best purchase I’ve made this year:)
