A: Hi Jen! Today, if an American food or beverage product lists corn, soy, canola, cottonseed or beet sugar as an ingredient and the product is not organic, it likely contains genetically modified/bioengineered ingredients. Our shells are not organic.

Original Old El Paso Taco shells were not made with Palm Oil which causes Migraine headaches in many people.

Quality is going down hill.
We've used these shells for many years and have always enjoyed them. Unfortunately, we had several broken ones the last time and stale ones this time. The expiration date wasn't until January, but hard shells shouldn't be chewy and difficult to break down.

It’s broke because you “fixed” it
They say new and improved taste but they are horrible now! They broke taking them out of the package, burned in the oven, and fell apart when they have nest in them. Go back to the old recipe.

Improved “Taste” Ruins Crips Texture
The new hard shells do not crisp up like they use to. After baking, the shells still did not crisp up and instead have a stale like texture (slightly hard but softish) and baking longer does not help. I’ve loved this brand since I was a child and I am sad and disappointed in this “improved” taste that has changed the texture. I sincerely hope El Paso goes back to the old recipe.

Poor quality
I've used these shells for years. This box of shells was tough and chewy despite following package directions. 3 of the shells were too misshapen to be usable. The date on package shows jan of 2026 so not old.

Stale tasting
Very disappointed in the new shells. They won't crisp up and just taste chewy or stale. I have never purchased anything but Old El Paso shells in the last 12 years but just had to buy a box of Taco Bell shells because the new ones are so bad. :(

Shells are consistently broken.
I love your shells, but the last 3 times I've bought them only a fraction were edible. I buy a box of 10 shells and only 5 are usable. You need new packaging. I will not buy your brand anymore. It's a waste of money.

Disappointingly Chewy/Stale
Guess we'll be moving on from what has always been our tried and true taco shells. The last 3 times we've had them they've been chewy/stale, even after heating them per package instructions.

Please go back to the old recipe. The new and improved taste ones are now just like Ortega shells, average at best. Loved the old recipe shells, wouldn't buy any other hard shell in the grocery store until now. Please bring back the old recipe.

Elpaso taco kits
The ElPaso taco sauce packet that comes in the kit contains maltodextrin which is harmful for your digestive system which I will not eat and boycott until the manufacturers take it out of all products
