Q: does anything effect the test for a false positive?

  • A: The OraQuick® HIV Self-Test is based on the detection of antibodies to HIV. False positive results can happen when: •incorrectly reading the test result as positive •not following the test directions carefully •not waiting 30 minutes after eating, drinking or using oral care products before taking the test •you have participated in an HIV vaccine clinical trial •swiping each gum more than once during oral collection A positive HIV antibody test should always be followed by a confirmatory test that measures the amount of virus present in the body and confirms the presence or absence of HIV infection.

Q: will this test help also say if you have chlamydia

  • A: The OraQuick In-Home Test Kit (recently rebranded to the OraQuick HIV Self-Test Kit) detects antibodies produced by the body’s immune system in response to an HIV infection. This test will not detect Chlamydia. We recommend you visit your health care provider or local health department to get tested for Chlamydia and other sexually transmitted infections.

Recommended and New Packaging Is Way Better!

It is always good to know your status and get tested. I recommend this test for those that want to run a test at there house and get results in 20 minutes. The instructions are simple and easy to use and it is an oral swab. No needle pricks. This is a big relief for me. Also I love the new packaging. It is SOOO much smaller and the new stand is easy to use. If you need an HIV test get this.
