Q: what is the innner mechanisms of the lid in this jar? I must know!

A: Hello! Thanks for your question. We designed an internal, patented web mechanism in the lid that causes the silicone seal to act like the seal around your refrigerator door. When you press the button, the web expands, pushing the seal, or gasket, out against the container walls, creating a barrier that prevents air from escaping.

A: Hello! It is very difficult to say how long food will stay fresh in the POP Containers since this depends on a number of factors. Since these airtight containers help to maintain food freshness, they are more effective at keeping food fresh when they are relatively full.

Love it!
I love this Oxo Pop Jar. The 5 quart size is perfect for storing things like flour, sugar, pasta, or even snacks, and it holds a lot more than I expected. The airtight seal really works and keeps everything fresh, and the lid is so easy to open and close with just one hand. It looks clean and modern on my counter and stacks well in the pantry too. Super sturdy, easy to clean, and makes organizing so much easier.

Holds 2 dozen palm-sized cookies!
This jar fits so many cookies! Once fall hits, I keep this one on my counter, always filled with something delicious. My favorite aspect of the jar is the pop button. It keeps the cookies inside fresh for days. My only complaint is that I can take the lid off even if the button is pushed down. It would be better if the lid could only be removed once the button was popped. Either way— staple on my counter, for sure!

Pop button inconsistent/won't work
Pop function is inconsistent, more than half the time when you press the button it will get stuck. Which is really odd, because all of the canisters I've tried work every single time. I feel bad giving oxo a bad rating on anything, everything else I've tried is spot on and I've owned for months to several years.

I really like OXO products and had high hopes for this cookie jar, but it is not air tight. My cookies still got stale and didn’t stay softer any longer than putting them in a baggie. The jar has good space though and fits a lot of cookies in it.
