Horrible lid, not at all secure on glass container
I picked it up in the store and the lid slid right off. Even though it’s a screw-top design, the lid comes right off. NOT a secure, sturdy seal at all. The glass container can easily fall and shatter. I was excited because the glass is thick and sturdy which is hard to find in a container but the lid design makes this a 0/5

GREAT jar... just not for hot-bath canning
I wanted to put up a lot of eggs B4 the chickens stopped laying. The jar holds 40 eggs - not bad. The jar is NOT for hot-water bath canning - but it's airtight and will keep the eggs until the winter.

Thick glass/ use to store fresh roasted turkey after thanksgiving!
I have used this giant sized thick glass mason jar for years to effectively keep fresh my Thanksgiving turkey stored bottom shelf/ near back wall of frig. WORKS beautifully!

Terrible adhesive on the label
The label is attached with some awful adhesive that leaves sticky marks all over the jar and doesn't come off even after repeated cycles in the dishwasher. Takes a long time scrubbing by hand with rubbing alcohol or vinegar to get it clean enough for use.

We are sorry you had difficulty removing the label. We suggest prior to immersing in water, just rub the oil into the label. It will soften the label and the adhesive to a point where you can lift off the label and wipe away any remaining adhesive. To remove any remaining adhesive on your items we would suggest WD-40, Avon Skin-So-Soft, or Goo Gone. Rinse thoroughly.

Adhesive Does Not Come Off
Its beyond me how a company this big does not know how to choose the appropriate adhesive level for all of the stickers they put on their product. I've been scrubbing for 20 minutes and the bottle is still sticky. And it'll likely be permanently scratched now too.

Have A Ball!
I love that Ball has come out with a mason jar this large. It reminds me of the old school pickle jars that my grandmothers would keep to store things in. It can be used for pasta, flour, sugar, rice, or decor. You could just about put anything in this gallon mason jar. It is not dish washer safe, so do keep that in mind, but I found it pretty easy to clean. If you’re looking for storage that is not made from plastic and looking to reduce toxins, try this!

Imagine my delight when I realized they made 1 gallon jars as well. I was able to use this for decorations during the holidays and plan to maybe use it for tea for large parties. Love it!
