OXO Silicone Spatula Red

very nice spatula, I love it

Black portion of handle melted when it touched a hot pan. Oxo replaced mine under warranty with a full silicone one called "Silicone Everyday Spatula - Jam", which isn't available at Target.

We love OXO products so bought again when our spatula needed replacing. Love the red color!

the handle burns past 200⁰F

Not sure about these high reviews. I used this spatula for the first time to cook eggs and there was a burning smell to it. Not a pleasant scent for a spatula that can't even be used on medium heat

Very easy to take out any paste from any container, also to stir fry.

Had for several years now. It’s a fantastic spatula. Feels now like it did when I bought it. Washes in the dishwasher and stains from tomato dishes are no concern.

Haven’t had a an issue with this spatula. We always buy nicer utensils so we don’t have to replace for a long time and this has held up so far.

You really can’t go wrong with this brand and I love how is slanted too so you can really get everything out!

It's always good to have a few of these in the kitchen.

I thought the entire spatula was silicone. It’s not. The handle is plastic and it melts very easily.

LOVE this spatula. I use it most days when cooking to scape the sides of pans or bowls. Great tool, a kitchen must have!

Clearly I’m middle aged, but I love this spatula. Stays firm and removes the batter from the sides. No waffling from side to side.

I have had this spatula for about 4 months. I wanted something to use when I make eggs, because I do not like when my spouse uses my baking spatulas(that are not recommended for heat) So far, it still works good! It has not peeled on me, but there is a cut on it that I believe it came from my knife when in the sink. I hand wash it only too. It’s durable and thick!

Pros: Seems durable Cons: Spatula edge is too thick Handle is top-heavy, causing it to fall out of bowls and make a mess. TL;DR While I tend to like OXO best out of the big-box cooking brands, I wouldn't buy this spatula again. The spatula edge For me, the spatula edge is too thick. The thickness prevents it from naturally sticking to and 'squeegeeing' the insides of a bowl. This makes you use more force to press the edge against the sides of the bowl. This was likely a design decision to favor durability over function. If you've ever used a thinner edged spatula, you know they tend to crack and fray after a while. Personally, I'd rather have a thinner spatula that works well and needs to be replaced every so often, rather than a thicker one that doesn't work quite as well. The handle The handle looks like it was designed to be ergonomic and comfortable. It's not uncomfortable, it's just heavy. The handle is much heaver than the spatula tip. Thus, it is tends to fall out of bowls if you leave it leaning against the side. Then it bounces off the counter and likely onto the floor. Then I'm cleaning up a mess. I've used this spatula maybe 10 times and it's happened almost every time I cook with it. So I have to be more thoughtful on how I place the spatula in the bowl when I'm done stiring, which, well, that ain't me :). I need to just have the spatula stay in the bowl. I'd opt for a wooden handle or something lighter weight.
