Great silicone brush
The OXO silicone brush works as expected, is heat resistant (I use it all the time to spread butter or oil in my pan before cooking). The gaps/holes in the center retain the liquid you are spreading for better distribution. After using I just clean it in the dishwasher and it comes out sparkly clean!

It’s ok the brush. The bristle are plastic. They do come off easily. But the brush is soft. Easy to clean and dishwasher safe. It’s durable for small cooking.

The best basting brush, all the other brands I have tried, the bristles come out over time, this thing holds up! It’s gone through the ringer in this house, I melted the handle and yet I haven’t replaced it because it still does a great job.

maybe not for baking
i got this for baking but the silicone is so strong it can dent/ smush pastry. i tried being as gentle as possible but at the same time the bristles pick up egg wash very oddly its like it doesnt hold the liquid.. i would consider this to be better for a thick viscosity type of liquid maybe for meats or grilling.

Too big for most pastry/baking uses
This brush beats the heck out of their natural pastry brush, which leaves hairs on everything. But it's just too big and carries more oil than needed for most of my needs, such as oiling a waffle iron, baking pan, or top of a loaf of bread. I'd love a silicone brush in the pastry size. Cleans up simply in the dishwasher.

This is at least twice as large as the one I was replacing for my wife. She nor I feel this is useful. It might be good for basting a turkey or something that large but is too big to be useful for basting rolls or biscuits. (Possibly useful for paint the trim in the kitchen ;-))

Works great! Better than basting brushes with hair-like bristles
The brush works great. Does what I need it to do, which is spread liquids on my food. I mostly use it to give sliced potatoes a thin coating of olive oil before roasting. Occasionally, I use it to spread my homemade cinnamon rum sauce onto cinnamon rolls. I bought 2 brushes just in case one was dirty while the other needed to be used. We run them through the dishwasher, I think the label said it was dishwasher safe, and they're fine. Old basting brushes I used always shed bristles, usually into the food. Haven't had that happen yet and don't expect to.
