Entertaining and surpsingly warm hearted
This was charming and surprisingly warm-fuzzy, even with the angst and decapitations. Stephen and Grace are lovely and I enjoyed their personal journey as well as their developing relationship. Learning about his role as a paladin and her perfume making was very interesting. I would have liked a little more world building and a bit more of their interactions with other people. I wish the book had been a little longer and the ending hadn’t felt so rushed. The twist ending/conflict resolution was fine, but it all happened so quickly that it did not have as much impact as I would have liked.
