A: Please, don't let the fact that these pens are retractable keep you from buying them. These Ink Joy are the very best pens I purchased in the past two years. I have other Ink Joy pens..but these..are the best. Also, you might want to give Paper-Mate's Flair pens, a great complement to these Ink Joy pens.

submitted byAH - 5 years agoA: they are retractable, which is good if you loose caps to pens often... its also a good way to pass the time during class/work whatever. repeatedly clicking the top is fun to do.... even though your boss or peers might not agree.

Considering the price and all the positive reviews, I had high expectations for these pens. Sadly, they did not live up to the hype for me. Maybe I got a bad batch or something, but all the pens skip really badly. I've been using them every single day for a week and am still having trouble with them. Everything I write looks sloppy no matter how much I use them to try to get the gel ink to come out more smoothly. I would not repurchase them.

I absolutely love these pens and have been buying them for several years now, since they came out. Love the way they write and how quickly the ink dries. If you get your paper wet it will smear and most likely you won't be able to read what was on the paper. Sometimes like this last box, there were pens that didn't write and I don't know why since there's a protected cap on each pen. Still, I love them and would recommend to anyone.
Dont buy these by the Pilot gel pens instead

I usually love these pens but I’ve purchased two different cases and BOTH cases had pens that skipped. It wasn’t just one pen either it was multiple in each case. Super frustrating because one moment it works and then next it doesn’t.
