Organic pasture raised or not?

4 out of 5 stars
Marco - 23 days ago

Buying Organic variety as the Pasture raised isn’t available at the super market where I generally shop. I was concerned that the Organic weren’t from hens that are pasture raised, however from info on this site, it appears that these are from pasture raised. Why is there no “pasture raised “ designation on packaging of the organic eggs?? Are they, in fact, pasture raised??

Hello Marco! Happy to answer this question for you! We follow the Humane Farm Animal Care (HFAC) Certified Humane Free-Range standards, which you can peruse here: https://certifiedhumane.org/our-standards/ Being free-range means that during most times of the day and year, our hens are free to roam outside as they please. This is very different from cage free, which typically does not involve any amount of outdoor access. We do have to ensure that our free-range hens are safe from predators and disease, so we can’t allow them outside if ground predators such as foxes or coyotes are seen in the immediate area. During migratory bird season, we protect our birds from exposure to diseases such as avian mites or avian influenza. Our free-range hens have a minimum of 2 square feet per hen of pasture, and that’s an average for every hen in the flock. It is very rare for the entire flock to choose to be outside at any one time during the day. Most of them prefer the shade, water, feed, or social opportunities inside the barn, so the girls that feel like venturing out usually have a vast expanse of a field all to themselves to explore. We invite you to check out our YouTube channel where we provide some great behind-the-scenes footage from our farms. Feel free also to reach out with any other questions or concerns here: familyfarmteam@peteandgerrys.com Thanks again for asking for this clarification!

Today we bought two dozen of the Organic extra large brown eggs and they are absolutely amazing! I told my wife that from now on we are only buying Pete and Gerry eggs no matter how much they cost! These eggs are so delicious when I scramble them. The yellow color is remarkable and I feel like I’m putting something good in my body. These are the best eggs out there, point blank period!👍🏿💯

We use Pete and Gerry's egg yolks in our ice cream. I have cracked and separated around 6,000 dozen eggs (by hand) every year for the last 20 years, so I might see more of the eggs than anyone else. They are always high-quality, with strong yolks and good color. Thanks for making a great product that helps make our products great.

Superior Eggs

Dear Pete and Gerry; I have a semi-hard boiled egg recipe taught to me by Emeril Lagasse, and I like to keep a small supply on hand for an easy grab and eat. I sometimes scoff at "organic" labels, but these eggs are the real thing. Your eggs may be a little pricey, but they are definitely superior to any other egg I've tried. The shells peel off consistently effortlessly, and they are delicious. What you are doing works. Thank you. Peter Wakefield, RI

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Pete and Jerry's organic eggs are the best eggs ever. They taste so good compared to regular store-bought eggs. I've never been a huge organic person. But I'm definitely keeping Pete and Jerry's eggs and my refrigerator. I definitely can't go back to the taste of the other ones believe me I tried it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These eggs tasted delicious. I tried them as both scrambled and over easy. The flavor was that of an egg. This didn’t come pare to the flavor of farm fresh eggs but I’ve never tasted a store bought egg that did.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I thought the eggs were ok. I feel like I’ve tried many different prices of eggs and they usually taste the same. I guess it depends how it’s cooked too

Hello Madeline, We know that free-range eggs can cost a bit more than cheaper eggs given the space required for our hens, but this is also a great opportunity to point out that the low cost of most conventional eggs is only made possible by cutting corners. Ample pasture space, high quality feed, and fair pay for our farmers are just a few of the factors behind the price you see at the store. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I tried the Pete and Gerrys organic eggs. I normally don’t buy organic things but decided to give these eggs a try. I cooked them in scrambled eggs and also sunny side up and found them very delicious. I also tried them hard boiled in my air fryer but found that they did not peel as well as regular eggs. I think these eggs are better for cooking or baking things.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] There were a lot of pros but just one con that made me dislike the eggs. The pros: The yolk is an orange/yellow color and looks super healthy. The eggs are made without added hormones and are antibiotic free. The packaging kept the eggs from breaking. The con: The texture was like rubber when I scrambled them.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was impressed with the quality of the Pete & Gerry organic eggs. The eggs have a really solid shell, which cracks easily but is sturdy enough that I wouldn't worry about breakage in transit. The whites are tight and stay together with a solid dark yellow yolk.
