About this item

Description

This special paperback features gorgeous sprayed edges with stenciled artwork.

#1 New York Times bestselling author Tessa Bailey is back with an all-new enemies-to-lovers, fake-dating sports romance about a playboy hockey rookie and the disciplined softball pitcher completely immune to his charms.

Boston Bearcats rookie Robbie Corrigan is living the dream. He’s made it to the NHL, his best friend/teammate and fellow “orgasm donor” is his roomie—and the women of Boston love them both. Life is sweet. That is, until he meets Skylar Paige, division 1 softball pitcher, girl least likely to take anyone’s bull…and the one member of the opposite sex immune to his charms. Robbie might be dazzled by the badass pitcher, but Skylar pegs him as a filthy player and wants nothing to do with him.

When he discovers she’s carrying a serious torch for her brother’s best friend, Robbie knows he should just go back to clubbing and whipped cream bikini parties, but he can’t seem to leave Skylar to flounder on her romantic quest to land another man. Nor can he miss out on the opportunity to spend time with her and hopefully redeem himself. Before Robbie knows it, he’s agreed to be Skylar’s fake boyfriend/love coach at an upcoming family wilderness competition where her crush will be in attendance. What could go wrong?

Through a series of contests that require them to trust each other, Robbie and Skylar grow closer and closer until their fake relationship starts to feel like the realest thing they’ve ever known and the sizzling lessons in sensuality burn out of control.

But it’s all just pretend…right?

I couldn’t wait to read Pitcher Perfect as I always enjoy practically everything that Tessa Bailey writes. I’ve been looking forward to reading this book since I finished Dream Girl Drama. I finished it in one sitting and downloaded the audiobook as soon as it was available- the narrators, Callie Dalton and Teddy Hamilton, are amazing & really add to the experience! It’s the kind of book that makes you smile without even realizing it. The characters felt genuine, especially the leads- I was rooting for them from the start. There’s a great balance of humor, heart, and just the right amount of romance. Even if you’re not into baseball like me, the story still hits home. It’s light, fun, and left me in a really good mood. Definitely recommend it if you’re looking for something sweet and uplifting! Now I can’t wait for the next book in the series, Catch Her If You Can!

I have said it before and I will say it a million times more: if Tessa Bailey has zero fans, I have left this plane of existence, because I eat her books up every. single. time. I honestly don’t think I’ve ever been able to put down one of her books once I’ve started—I’m pretty sure I’ve read each one in one sitting. In Pitcher Perfect, we get more of the absolutely delicious type of MMC Tessa Bailey writes so well: men who are so wholly, completely, RIDICULOUSLY down bad for their women you almost feel a bit bad for them. I mean, they can’t even function around their FMCs, and it is actually my favorite thing in the entire world. Give me the feral, unhinged energy of a Tessa Bailey MMC all day, every day. I was a bit hesitant going into this about how much of a playboy Robbie, our MMC, had been built up to be in the past books of this series—I wasn’t sure that I was going to be able to feel for him and connect to him as much as I had with the other grumps of the series. And having Skylar, our FMC, be someone who we had only met very briefly in Dream Girl Drama, I was sad that we wouldn’t get to see the aspects of friendship between Josephine, Tallulah, and Chloe that I’d gotten used to, and that there wasn’t as much build up for who she was and what we could look forward to. I should have known Tessa Bailey would prove me so wrong that it’s almost laughable. I connected to Robbie and Skylar so hard and so quickly I was immediately laughing my butt off, giggling into my hands, kicking my feet and flailing all over the place, and sobbing like a mess. Their characters feel so well-developed and the backstories that we get for each of them makes them feel real and whole without drowning us in exposition. I was immediately rooting for both of them, screaming at Skylar to give Robbie a chance while also completely understanding her hesitations and siding with her on those, while also hoping with all my heart that Robbie was going to be able to get his girl and prove her assumptions about him wrong. I could write novels on how deeply I feel for every character Tessa Bailey introduces us to, but I’ll leave that up to her. I am so ridiculously glad I got to snatch this up off of NetGalley, and can’t wait to hold the physical copy in my hands and add it to my Tessa Bailey shelf in a spot of honor. Hope to see you soon in Bailey’s Boston (😉) and hope you have just as much fun as I did!!
