well... I finished it...
⭐️⭐️ (rounded up) This one absolutely did not work for me. The FMC is insufferable in every way. The dirty talk constantly yanked me out of the story... nothing kills the mood faster than a grown adult using baby words ("tummy"? ew) during supposed sexy moments, or lines that feel more awkward than hot. The spice leaned heavily into shock-value phrasing that felt juvenile, anatomically questionable, and unintentionally funny. At one point the names of certain body parts are forgotten... what?? It’s not a one-star only because I finished it, but overall the vibes were off, the execution was cringe, and this was very much not for me.

SO amazing
Oh man, Saffron always does top tier tortured MMC's, and Arsen is no exception. He's a big cowboy criminal (their words, not mine), but man, does she always give them facets of tenderness that you can't help but pull for. Reverie is also such a great character! Such an amazing foil for Arsen. The names are all SO unique, and the whole cast of characters is amazing (I need Peyton and Rad to have a book!). Saffron also has this amazing quality of being able to put me IN the minds of the character in such a way that I HAVE to know how it all works out. There are few writers that can accomplish that. The quality of writing is perfect and I love the twists and turns the story took! Just when you think you know what's going on, it surprised me and kept me on the edge of my seat. I literally forgot to eat because I couldn't put the book down!
