About the Author



Vladimir Nabokov nació en San Petersburgo, Rusia, en 1899. Su familia huyó a Crimea en 1917 durante la Revolución Bolchevique, y más tarde a Europa. Nabokov estudió en el Trinity College de Cambridge, graduándose en Francés y Literatura rusa en 1922. Vivió en Berlín y París las dos décadas siguientes, escribiendo prolíficamente bajo el seudónimo Sirin. En 1940 llegó a Estados Unidos donde alcanzó fama y prestigio como novelista, poeta, crítico y traductor, al tiempo que ejercía de profesor de ruso, escritura creativa y literatura en las universidades de Stanford, Wellesley, Cornell y Harvard. El monumental éxito de su novela Lolita (1955) le permitió dejar la enseñanza y dedicarse plenamente a la escritura. En 1961 se trasladó a Montreux, Suiza, donde murió en 1977.
