I love this product. Perfect for my "no-makeup-days" as it has nice pigment to it, but blends in so well with my natural skin that I use it to conceal blemishes on my no-makeup-days. I also use it as a base before applying a heavier concealer to cover the really dark spots around my eyes. I hope MAC never discontinues this product as I have never seen anything else like it.
Color is perfect, application has a learning curve

I am OBSESSED with the color Tailor Grey, but you have to work fast, as the product dries/gets gunky fairly quickly. It can also get manky with layering, so there's definitely a learning curve with paint pots. For reference, I'm applying it with my fingers, and would appreciate any brush recommendations that could cut down on application difficulty. I'm also considering picking up the mixing medium to extend the time before it sets. Still, the color & finish is worth the hassle of trying to finesse a product that applies less intuitively (for me, your experience may vary!) . Still, wish MAC would release this in a satin eyeshadow formulation, as that's much more user friendly, IMO!

We love your fascination with Tailor Grey, Lane! It's a stunning cool taupe, but it does set fast! Try applying with a buffing synthetic brush (like the MAC #286 Duo Fibre Tapered Brush) for more control and quick bendability. To keep it workable longer, mix in a bit of MAC Mixing Medium — it helps smooth application + layering. Additionally, if you're craving that shade in a softer formula, check out Satin Taupe — it gives major Tailor Grey vibes but in a super blendable satin finish. View it here: bit.ly/MACSatinTaupeES.

Been using this for over 10 years and I will not ever stop. You can use it as an eyelid primer to really hold your eyeshadow all day and you can use it as concealer to cover up those puffy eyes or dark circles underneath. It also lasts a long time a little will go a long way.
Yes, it's perfect. Love Painterly!

I had been using some warmer toned eyeshadows and was really not enjoying them. I haven't figured out what my best colors are, but in the meantime, Painterly to the rescue! It's an excellent base and a shadow color that I'm feeling more comfortable with.

I've been using these for eye shadows for a while, and own multiple colors. I love how they last ALL DAY, with no creasing or fading. I'd recommend these to anyone!!

It has so much of a fine glitter look - not what I expected and not my preference. It does go on smoothly.

First time purchasing the pot cream, and perfect for the makeup routine, and it creases for the eyelids to pop up for the color.

Smudged so badly after maybe 2 hours.

Sorry to hear that Black Mirror Paint Pot smudged on yo, Stellar! Paint Pots have great staying power, but sometimes oilier lids or humidity can affect wear. To help lock it in, try using the Prep + Prime 24-Hour Extend Eye Base underneath—it creates a smooth, long-lasting canvas. You can also set Black Mirror with a powder shadow like Carbon to boost staying power and reduce smudging. Alternatively, for a bold black base that really stays put, the Colour Excess Gel Pencil in “Glide or Die” works beautifully smudged out as a shadow or base and sets to a long-wearing and waterproof finish.

i've had the same pot for over two years. it was the PERFECT shade for medium/tan olive skinned girlies. it canceled out my darker eyelids without being orange/reddish or pulling and ashy yellow (soft ochre) or an ashy pink (painterly) it was the PERFECT everyday, cover to cover the darkness while adding a touch of color. super low maintenance. the other shades i HAVE to put on a color on top which isn't ideal for everyday

I have used this exclusively as a two-in-1 product to prep my eyelids before eye shadows and to help even out skintone. Creamy, long-lasting, and very pretty.

I love this paint pot. I had read the reviews about it drying out so when I purchased it I put plastic wrap and then the lid on. I have had it for a couple years because I don't wear makeup too much. However, after 2 years the painterly is STILL moist! I have done this with some other makeup items I have that dry or leak and it does the trick!

I'm in my mid 30s and am starting to have veiny eyelids. they've also always been oily and eyeshadow always creases. I've been on the hunt for something that evens out my lids and also stays put. I've tried other Mac paint pots but not painterly before now, I always thought it would be too pink on my skin tone (currently using ilia stick foundation 16N). the pinkish color is perfect for camouflaging the blue of the veins. I don't prefer the color by itself but it acts as a perfect primer for whatever powder I lay on top. I apply with an it cosmetics eyeshadow brush, a thin layer all over my lids. it's perfect for an easy, low maintenance everyday look for work!

I've had this now for a few months and use it everyday as an eye shadow primer. I finally got the hang of not applying too much, and letting it dry before applying my powder eyeshadow. It provides a nice base and on occasion a stand alone shadow. I also like to apply it with my finger rather than a brush in order not to use a lot since it is rather thick. Overall very happy with it.
