decent for beginners/non-serious skaters
These skates are slightly better than rentals. Used these for about 20 hours for my learn to skate class and my coach said that they were already breaking down, so I went ahead and invested in the $340 Jackson skates. If you're a beginning skater and not sure if you want to invest money into the sport, these are a great entry pair of skates to see if you'd like to later invest in a quality brand name pair. Very little foot and ankle support, so don't expect these to hold up for working on edges, balance, crossovers, and spins. But if you're still learning how to do the very basics, these might suffice for the first two levels. If you just want to avoid rental skates and use these to skate laps around the rink, these are for you. If you think you'd like to advance above level 3, I'd recommend putting your $50 you would've spent on American Athletic into a better quality beginner brand like Jackson or Riedell.
