Book Synopsis

In an uplifting inspirational romance that will make your heart smile, award-winning, USA Today bestselling author Amy Lillard's "Whoopie Pie Widow's Club," a group of women who share solace, friendship, and faith in the close-knit community of Paradise Valley, Missouri, reunites as a local writer embarks upon the joyful Amish tradition of matchmaking...For fans of Charlotte Hubbard, Amy Clipston, Molly Bebber, and Linda Byler.

While most women her age are searching for husbands, Astrid Kauffman has chosen a different path--writing romance novels and donating her profits to her beloved Amish community. But when Astrid struggles with writer's block, she agrees to play matchmaker for Imogene Yoder, a widowed mother of rambunctious twin boys. Perhaps the diversion--and the entrée it gives Astrid to the stories among the Widows' Club--will spark her creativity . . .

Fortunately, Astrid has just the match for Imogene: a widower she believes is the finest, most handsome man in town. In fact, Astrid realizes he's perfect . . . for herself! Soon, the plot thickens as Imogene questions what kind of marriage she really wants, and Astrid wonders what kind of matchmaker falls for someone else's match. But by letting faith guide the way, all involved may discover true love has written a far better next chapter than any of them expected . . .

A heartwarming Amish tale!

The Amish Matchmaker by Amy Lillard is an amusing story. I chuckled often while reading this entertaining tale. I thought the story contained good writing with interesting characters. I loved Astrid who is confident and outgoing. She also has an unusual profession for an Amish woman. Imogene’s twin boys, Mattie and Mahlon Yoder, were a hoot. They are ten years old and constantly getting into mischief. They kept the story lively. It was good to see the characters grow and become better people as a result of the meddling. Astrid learns a good life lesson that she will not soon forget. I liked that we get to see the importance of being pushed out of our comfort zone. It may be uncomfortable, but we are better for it in the end. I loved the epilogue that nicely wrapped up the book. This was a fun story about friendship, family, meddling, and mischievous twins. This is one of those feel-good stories that leaves you with a smile on your face when you finish it. I am looking forward to One More Time for Joy. The Amish Matchmaker is the second book in the Paradise Valley series. It can be read as a standalone, but you will be missing out. The Amish Matchmaker is a heartwarming, lighthearted tale with impish twins, writing troubles, a meddlesome matchmaker, a doggy dilemma, festival fun, and happy hearts.

Imogene Yoder is a widow who desperately needs help raising her twin sons, Matthew and Mahlon, and who better to help her find a husband than an Amish romance writer? Astrid Kauffman rejects this matchmaking idea until she realizes that finding a husband for Imogene might help her spin a perfect plot for her next book. 'She had a plot. 'A brand-new plot to take a young widow and a handsome business owner and make them fall in love.' There are complications galore in The Amish Matchmaker. Astrid finds the perfect candidate so what could possibly go wrong? Could it be that Ira Oberholzer would also be a perfect match for Astrid herself? I thoroughly enjoyed her often inept efforts to create the perfect romance for Imogene and Ira, and the antics of the two young Yoder twins and their new puppies, Huck and Hoss, had me laughing out loud. Mixed signals and romantic feelings for the wrong people make this an Amish romance that you won't soon forget, and I can't wait to read Amy Lillard's next book in the Paradise Valley series! I received a digital copy of this book from the author and publisher. There was no obligation for a positive review.

This was such a cute story! I just loved it. The characters were all so engaging. And it was a book that once you started, you kept right on reading. It was such a fun book. The book took right off from the beginning to end. No dull moments as Astrid becomes the matchmaker for Imogene, a widow with twin boys who needs a husband and father to help her. Astrid is a romance writer and is surprised at Imogene's request to help her find her match. But she's right on the job! I loved the storyline, love, friendships and a few laughs along the way. It was a really enjoyable tale and I loved the humor when confusion hits! I loved the characters of the twin boys, Mattie and Mahlon who helped to add humor and a little chaos to the story. All in all, this book is a sure winner for all who love Amish fiction. Can't wait for book 3! I received a copy of this book through NetGalley. All thoughts are my own.
